US Embassy and Consulate Discussionhow long does it take to receive an appointment letter from USEM?

I think what I will do is call back in a few days. I am way to impatient to wait. LOL! There is no way I will let them lose my paperwork. I know since both of our last names are S we are on the bottom of the pile.

We shall press on!

that's what we are planning to do too, to call back after 5 days, so on monday or tuesday we will try to attempt to schedule an interview for me, and geez! our last names also starts with S so lets hope that they are working on a FIFO basis and not in alphabetical order smile.gif

Hi there!

Hope this helps.. Based on my experienced they really always tells you that call them back after two weeks for them to review the papers but I call them back like 5days after and they give me an appointment. It usually happens, for you to stop wondering call them back and they will for sure set you for an appointment and medical interview. Goodluck!

wow i really appreciate that, thanks a lot!

we called the call center today to attempt to schedule an interview as per Grace' instruction, and the call center representative told us that we are not yet qualified to schedule an interview appointment as they are still reviewing our papers, but they she said that our papers are already in USEM, we need to follow up after two weeks, thats another two weeks...

i thought the waiting game is over...

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionmy medical and interview experience
Medical:

i went to SLEC about 1:30pm to get my medical exam done last november 6 and 7 even without an appointment letter, i just brought with me the letter from NVC and had no problem with it,

the guard gave me some forms to fill up and told me to give it at the US receptionist, after that, i was told to pay to the cashier, i forgot what floor was that, then i got my x-ray done, eye exam, vital signs, immunization interview, blood extraction, urine specimen, and i was asked to submit the forms to the US counter at 5th floor, i was able to get out of the building about 3:45pm...

second day, the guard instructed me to proceed to 2nd floor for immunization kicking.gif which was an indication that i did pass my medical exam, so i waited for hours and hours for my name to be called, and then when it was my turn, i got 4 shots, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, and HPV, hah! that was a lot! then i was asked to wait for my name to be called at the ground floor for releasing... i got out of the building about 6pm...

then i got sick for 2 day...

Scheduling my interview:

We received the appointment letter on november 10 and we were lucky to have scheduled my interview on the 14th at 7am, it was just so perfect, perfect timing!

Interview at USEM:

i wasn't able to sleep the night before my interview, i was so excited, so me and my uncle left the house around 4:45am and arrived at the USEM about 5:30am, there were a lot of applicants who were already waiting at the waiting area,

at about 6:30am, those who had an appointment at 7am were told to fall in line at the main gate, the guard checked our appointment letter and identification and told us to proceed to Gate 2 for scanning of bags and things, we went inside they told us to get our DS forms ready, there was a very nice lady who check our DS forms for corrections, after that, the guard told us to fall in line again to get a number, after that, we were told to get back to our seat again and wait... and then wait... and wait again... for hours...

finally, i was called for finger scanning, and the lady at the window told me "good luck on your interview," and then i went back to my seat to wait again... for hours... and another hour...

then kicking.gif i was called at window 20 for pre-screening, the pre-screener took my bc, nbi clearance, cenomar, I-134, ITR, copy of divorce decree, pictures and emails, the questions that she asked me were:

who is petitioner?
how old is he?
where does he live?
can you tell me how did you guys met? when?
were you able to meet him in person? when? how many times?
does he have previous marriages? do you have a copy of his divorce papers?
do you guys have pictures? emails?
how do you communicate?

i gave her all of the printed emails and voice call history and pictures hoping that she wont return it back because those were really heavy, and she said, okay, good luck on your final interview,

again, i waited and waited for many hours, i was anxious and hungry and nervous at the same time, plus it was really cold inside the embassy, then after a couple of hours, my number was called at window 31, hehehe...

the consul was a very nice young looking man, he asked me the same questions that the pre-screener asked, while he was checking the evidence that i submitted to the pre-screener, he said, "everything looks good and i dont see any problem with your papers, so please wait outside for your name to be called," i thanked him and went outside, then the man at window 37 (releasing window) called my name and gave me a pink slip kicking.gif and to my dismay! he gave me back the emails, voice call history, and other evidence that i submitted! but boy! i was just so happy! he said, "okay ma'am, you can go home after you pay for your visa delivery fee,"

a warm hello to everyone! PW, thanks for adding me to your list. i had been reading and following this thread everytime i visit VJ. i think all the posts ( questions, experiences, ideas) seem to be very helpful to each and everyone who is on this visa process. i myself has many things on mind to share and clarify, i guess some cases need legal advices but i would appreciate any advice from anybody here. to start with, i am not married but i have kids ( my fiance knows about it, of course! in fact my kids are K2 derivatives). my kid's father and i had parted ways almost 6 years for some unavoidable reasons. good thing i did not marry him... what i am worried about is that my kids has their father's names on their BC's(i am not married to him) and the sad thing was there is a date of marriage that we put in there just to have the kids registered. if we could remember about the old family code, a child cannot carry his/her father's name if born out of wedlock. since i am giving birth to a hospital and i known my OB, she didnt ask for a marriage contract for the babies registration. now my question is..is this a big factor for an AR? my fiance submitted a CENOMAR when he filed the petition with the kids BC's. we were worried that we cannot get approved if the USCIS people check the BC's and ask for RFE's. but we were amazed after 69 days we got our NOA2 :) . anyone who have the same case like mine could share some ideas on what im going to do with these? or if someone know a lawyer whom can i ask some legal advice about such case? i would appreciate every inch of help that i can get from you guys. i am really worried i might put on AR because of this. by the way, my kids will just join me later if i got my visa. thanks everyone for giving your time reading my post. GOD BLESS!

1) I agree with Gen. It is the Spanish way. My NBI clearance has the “y” and the “de”. “y” is to denote mother’s maiden name and “de” is to denote married name. For example, Jackie Kennedy’s (Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy) NBI clearance would appear as:

BOUVIER de KENNEDY, JACQUELINE y LEE

oh.... right... sorry 2hearts... I knew there something was a little askew in what I said
'de' for married or last name... 'y' for middle name...
I stand corrected.

Congratulations to couples who just got approved.. and good wishes for vic & el to get out of the AR hole soon.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Interview

I guess I have officially arrived at the freaking out stage with our USE interview in less than 2 weeks.

I have 2 questions, please:

(1.) Maricel went to get a new NBI as advised. NBI listed her name in all caps correctly, but with a small "y" added between her first and middle name. I thought it was a typo. Since I have read so much about how typos/misspellings of any kind can cause problems, I asked her to return to have another NBI typed up. However, when she returned, NBI told her it was normal to have the "y" added after the first name, because it indicates that the NBI is a renewal NBI.

Has anyone else experienced this or seen this small "y" on your renewal NBI Clearance?

(2.) Maricel's rent house is difficult to find. Because of this we rented a joint post office box together when I visited her last Summer. However, I know Delbros will not deliver to a PO Box. Also, the Delbros website says that you are unable to contact them to arrange to pick up a package.

Is this true? For those of you with experience getting your Visa delivered by Delbros, did you have any trouble getting the package? Are you able to call Delbros when the package is "Out for Delivery" to arrange to pick it up?

Thanks.

Hi 2hearts,

I still haven't had my NBI Clearance renewed, so I'm not really sure how it looks like.. but IMO the format "first name y last name" .. i.e. Juana Maria y Cruz is acceptable. It is a Spanish way of stating the name (probably an offishoot of the Spanish era in Philippine history???) I'm sure someone will pop in to correct me if I'm wrong

As to your second question.. I still have to go through the gauntlet (the interiew) myself on March 22  ... but I have read that when you fill up the Delbros form after the interview, you can specify an address of a friend or relative where it is most convenient for you to have the visa delivered. Of course you have to leave a valid ID and letter of authorization for your friend/relative to be able to receive your visa for you.

Break a leg

Quick question in our interview this coming march do they need a 2006 recent tax return cause i just read on another post she was put on AR because she cant provide a 2006 tax return...?? Just a question do they need it?? for march interview?

Hi maylet29,

As I understand it, the tax return and W2 are required as supporting documents for the I134 as proof of income. And as Roy pointed out. it is too early to file for the 2006 tax return... so we thought of presenting "another" proof of income, which would be my fiance's paystubs for the whole of 2006.

But this is just my fiancee and me thinking... would love to hear what others would do.

Oh. and we have the same interview date :)

Hi PW. Would you suggest getting recent certified copies of annulment papers from the court, as well as a newly issued annotated MC from NSO to present at the interview? The annulment documents we sent with the petition were dated June 2006. I'm wondering if it would make a difference.

My certified court papers are also dated June 2006 and my NSO-issued MC is dated August 2006. I ordered new MC from NSO last week and plan to get a new set of certified court papers in March. The embassy prefers documents to be "current" which we interpret as 6 months old or less. We've heard of Manila embassy ordering new Cenomar or new BC and MC (paid for by the embassy) and we never really know their reason for doing that (older document? doubt the authenticity of BC?).

We always suggest to submit "current" documents to minimize chances of AR.

Thanks. Yup, I guess "better safe than sorry" is always the way to go in this process... even if logic dictates otherwise.
The Embassy does that to catch fakes? ... ok ok I'd go with that reasoning anytime.

Congratulations to the recent approvals and those out of AR.
And good luck to all of us.. considering how the process is, we certainly need it no matter how well prepared we are! oh my

Has anyone heard from neonspark and kirkandjenny?

I read Kirk's message on a thread he started ... that was about a week ago.. copying and pasting his message.. here it is:

I do not know if this will help anyone. It seems like we were rejected because Jenny did not have a picture of her and her ex-husband who deserted her and her child 5 years ago putting her brothers and then me in the position of supporting her and her child. Everything else was fine. I will fly over there and marry her soon. I will then come back and liquidate assets and emmigrate to the Philippines. I do not know if this is stating that presumptive death even though stated by the embassy is a valid show of singleness or not. I think we will never know the real reason for rejection. Anyway, I do not know if this helps anyone, but might be a reason to try annulment instead of presumptive death. Good luck to all of you and thanks for all the help this forum has been.

Take care,

Kirk and Jenny

Hi garya505,

Trying to reconcile conflicting info on number of passport photos needed at the medical exam...

It seems they take one photo to put on the form one fills up on the first day (thus, the info given to you when you called St. Luke's).
Then, they take another 2 when the medical report is to be released to the Embassy on the second day.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, please?

Shhh, :secret: it was the embassy who lied to you....

oh my, they do rejoice in our confusion huh??

And here I go again with yet another question … I suppose you will have to put up with me as I will be pestering this thread with questions for the next couple of weeks trying to put our ducks in a row even if we don’t have our interview date yet, :)

Anyways…. I’ve done my CFO seminar already, and I have my Certificate. My concern is about my 19-year old daughter, who, according to the CFO website and the lady I talked to in the CFO office, will have to attend Peer Counseling once she gets her visa. I want to prepare my daughter this early on what she should expect; however, I have not read any account here on CFO Peer Counseling for K2 derivatives aged 13 to 19 years old.

hmmmm… could it be that I’m just the only one here now who is that old to have a 19-year old daughter???? :o (and yes, I even have 24 and 23 year-old sons!)

I’ve read that Jo&John and Jamrok had the age-out situation. I was wondering if their son/daughter went through the counseling. An account of that would really help me and my daughter, and others in the future who will have to go through with it.

Thanks again!

Hi!

Look at the VJ Sample Form here: http://www.visajourn...Form-DS-156.pdf
To "marry my fiance so and so" sounds fine... but I think mentioning "relocation", as in the sample form, makes it more complete and accurate.

Birdy, let's hope that you and gobdogman will be the "filler" for February. Looking at the timelines, you and cybernutguy are in line for interview. Try to check the interview website at least once a day and a schedule might pop up.

I guess PW already answered my question, albeit by implication (that checking the online visa appointment site is the way to go). Thanks, PW.

So, there is no definite info from past months that indeed the USE schedules interviews in “trickles”? The operative word there I guess is “might”, huh? This fine by me, since I’m on the fringes anyways. But I feel for those between Nos. 38 to 63 in the list without dates yet.

And I got another issue here, PW. We were “lied to” by NVC!! Well, we were told they sent our files to the Manila Embassy on Nov. 24th. By approximation using DHL tracking, we came up with Nov. 27th as received date. But when I called the Embassy, I was told they received it last Nov. 20th! I wonder were NVC gets the dates they give out… ho hum. Anyways, our received date should be Nov. 20 then. We want accurate dates here for the info of everyone.

Thanks, PW. You go the extra mile doing this for our little community; it is mucho appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I was really expecting a late March interview, even early April, but the interview skeds vis a vis case numbers now look very encouraging. I saw a post (not on this list) reporting a Feb. 22 interview with case number 813xxx. I know VJ members are but a handful compared to total visa applications at the Embassy, but seeing as it is on the list, I’m the cut-off here, so I’m thinking we might, just might make it to February. After all, a few days difference… late February to early March ..means a lot as it would mean a few days less fretting about  …. And less days away from my S,!

And also seeing gobdogman, birdyboy, and another one I saw on a different post, seeming to have gotten skipped… I have this question.

Would anybody know if the USE gives the dates in just one big salvo? Or do they do in in “trickles’? .. i.e. do they release dates today, then release some more, say 2 days from first release?? We saw some “filling-in” for December and January, because of holiday staffing adjustments, as someone smartly pointed out. But how about during the “normal”months? November or October of last year maybe?

I thought of calling the Embassy to ask, but seeing how people get canned responses... oh well.

Just a thought.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Interview

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who just got approved and those who have their interview schedules released!!!   By the way, I just like to know if I could get my medical exam earlier than my provided schedule ?(like a month earlier... maybe?) If yes, how should I do it, should I call Saint Luke's? And what are the documents that I should bring with me? Hope someone can shed some light on this matter. Thanks in advance!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Hi!

Yup, the medical examination can be done earlier.. in fact, I read some posts encouraging it to be done a month earlier than interview date, something about the effectivity of one of the vaccines ( thanks gary505). You can go to St. Luke's with your appointment letter (original and photocopy)... or if you're picking up your packet that day (see my post for Sway a few posts up), I understand you just have to present a valid ID to the guard and tell him you're picking up your packet. No need to call to schedule medical appointment.

And thanks to sillygirl for this info: http://www.raymonddo...isa/medical.pdf
It is a very comprehensive account of her medical exam experience.

I am really worried here, our interview will be on the 19th but still I have not receive our packet. Where should I call? help please.

Hi sway,

I got this information from previous posts in this thread.

Since you have your appointment date already, the packet can be picked up from St.Luke's. You can call the Manila Embassy (02)528-6300 and request that your packet be sent to St.Luke's on the date you specify. Then the day before you're supposed to pick it up, you can call them again to confirm if they already had it forwarded ito St. Luke's. Or you can also call St. Luke's to confirm (521-0020 or 521-8647), ask to be connected to Window F.

You can also have the medical exam accomplished that day to make the most of your trip to St. Luke's.

Worry no more. :)

More February Interviews!! Erichu on Feb 16!!

Mari called the USE at 909-101-7878 and they told her that we are scheduled for Feb 16 for the interview and the packet was mailed yesterday! The date isn't even posted in the online system yet. You have to call. The USE is really moving now on the petitions! We are so happy, this is sooner than we had hoped!!

:star:   :star:

Is this the Philippine USE number or a US 909 area code? Thanks Ken

Hi,

1-909-101-7878 is the number of the Call Center, accepting local calls. Maria shoud be able to contact the number using a PLDT or Smart landline with national/international direct dial feature. :)

So happy for those who got February interview dates already.. this is certainly good news for us way down the queue!

oh.. and hope to hear from Roy soon for the approval news from his fiancee ... another happy dance for that!
