...the "visa making machine" could be broken....it's happened before.....sorry, I really do wish there was something I could say to make you all feel better..... (F)

The truth of the matter is that the Embassy SUCKS and I am a firm believer that they do try to make it more miserable hoping that it will become too hard and too stressful and you will give up. That is what I have always thought -- NEVER have I run into more of a bunch of incompetent people in my life.

If I treated people who are calling my office like they have treated "us" -- I would have lost my job a long, long, long time ago.

i strongly agree with you.

i am asking all my fellow Vjers to pray for me,as i prepared for my interview

They are truly a month behind though in their interview dates.

They have to unpack  Can you just imagine the mess they have there???? Maybe now (okay, after they get caught up) things might go smoothly.......a girl can dream, can't she? :energetic:

I have to say that from what I could see, everything looked pretty neat and tidy when I was there!! I think there is something in their job descriptions that says they have to be okay with making peoples lives as difficult and as stressful as possible!

they think the more stressful they make it the more likely it is for them to catch a fraud

I agree Lovelyjodie. You should have your husband redo one and send it to you. It's better to have it just in case then not having it at all.

i just recieved my package and i need help. they are asking for US $335 for application fee i don't understand what that is for. They need the I-864 form and i don't have it.
I am guesing you are going the I130 route, CR-1, there is a fee for the Affidavit of support I-864, and the DS-230, that based on last years procedures, NVC sends you a bill, you pay it, and they send you the forms. There is also a security fee as well included in there somewhere. I believe I have them listed in my signiture.
yes that's the route i am going.my husband got all those bills and paid them so do i need to pay it again. on the check list they sent me they ask for the I-864 form but i dont have it.Can my husband redo one and have it notarized and send it to me?
Once he paid the I-864 bill he should have received the forms, they should then be completed and kept until the day of the interview, and submitted then. I suspect your husband has the forms, just didn't realize you need them.

Is he going to the interview?
no he submitted that form to the NVC and no he won't be coming to the interview
Sorry it's been a year. If he has a copy you should have him send you one, but they (NVC) will send it to the embassy, and they (KNG) should have it. It is good to have with you in case. Though I suspect if the one from the NVC did not arrive it would still cause a delay even if you have your copy.
he does not have a copy.what should i do? have him redo another one and send it to me
I'd have him do it just in case, but I honestly don't expect it would make a difference. It was sent to the embassy with the rest of your paperwork from the NVC.

Hi,

When I received my packet in November I was confused about that fee too. I called the embassy and was told it was an error (I applied for a K-1 visa) and that I should only pay the US$100.00 fee at Paymaster. I don't know about the I-864...I used a different one for my interview in December. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

Mars.

Re: Wages...my salary in Kingston was way above minimum wage and it was still so difficult to make ends meet. Some days I had to choose between the rent or groceries. Tough situation.

CaribbeanDHL fee, Online registration, Jamaica

There is something about having to go online and register for DHL for Kingston Embassy. When is that required to be done and what is the web address?
Does anyone have a step by step process what needs to be done after NOA2? Kingston embassy contacted fiance today to ask for his address and told him he will receive something in the mail that he has to fill out the first part of and mail back immediately. However i hear a lot of people are emailing forms back and forth. Neither he nor I have gotten any emails from Embassy yet.

If you have your NVC case number, Complete and Scan the DS230 Pt1 form and email it to the Immigrant Visa section of the Embassy with a note explaining the Email. Put the NVC case number in the subject line of the Email with your Date of Birth (D.O.B.).

I apologize, I haven't gotten to this point but am very interested to find out how this new process works. This system has thrown a wrench in my months of researching this process. Have you tried emailing the embassy to ask?

Also, would you mind sharing the contents for packet 3? I'm trying to figure out how to pay the visa fee myself. If it is also possible, would you mind updating this post detailing your experience with paying the fee. I think it would help others.

Thank you.

Thanks for your response. Sure, all K1 applicants are now required to pay the Application Fee on the date of their Interview.

With the New system changes that took place on March 18, 2013. I paid my Visa application over the phone using a credit card. I wrote down the confirmation number that they gave at the end. Someone please tell me, is there something else I need to do? Do I just present this number to the embassy on the interview date?

Be reminded that you need to go online and register for DHL on: www.jamaica.usvisa-info,com. Print the confirmation sheet with the address and take it to the interview. If you don't do this, you may be asked by the Consular Officer to leave and do it.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

It is in two parts

YES, I am shouting THANKS. Peter and I want to thank everyone in JAM for all of your prayers, jokes, chitchat, laughter, stress relief, mental support, and thanks to the Lord up above for hearing our prayers.

Here is my part of the process: Wednesday, I went to NCB to pay for visa fee, Thanks Sweet for asking that question, I had him write a note took his passport and paid the fee. That night I went over all paperwork again, making sure he signed everything, put all the forms in order, I made a cover sheet, and binder clipped all of my financial stuff together. I color coded each section like all forms behind yellow sheet, further proof of relationship behind pink sheet, I-129, behind green sheet, added his medical packet. I reorganized my photo book, we took some more pictures when I got here. We headed to the embassy at 5 am. We were rushing because Peter forgot where the embassy was, and with a lot of traffic we made it at 8:45 am for his 9:30 am appt. We brought his brother and cousin with us so they can park the car and keep cellphones. We cannot bring lotions, etc.. In so I left my bag in the car. When we arrived there was no one in line, so they checked the paperwork, similar to what others said. We went in they asked about cellphones, we went through the screening, and walked through the courtyard to the heavy glass door. The gentleman took his paperwork and checked it. He was assigned A154, then they asked me to go back into the courtyard. I asked to go into the US Citizens section in the AC and he said NO. Which was even better, cause I sat next to the snack bar, and I could see him through the window. I was the only petitioner there, so security and other staff were chit chatting with me. Making sure that I was OK. The security guard advised me to sit on the back row cause the sun would soon come out. I watched people go sit on the visitor visa section, they processed about 300 people, some were MAD they did not get through. Peter came out twice saying he was freezing, and to check on me. I sat and waited and then.....next to come on consulate Review.

Fiancé Reports: He went into interview area, he sat for about an hour, then they took fingerprints he had to complete 3 forms, including one for DHL, and swear that we would not get married in Jamaica. He sat back down and waited for about two hours. There were on six people left for K-1, or CR-1 visa, so the manager called people from the back to come process the 6. The white gentleman called him to the window, and said he already went through his paperwork, so he will ask him his questions. The officer mentioned to him that his paperwork was very organized, he had no problem looking for anything. He said they both smiled at each other, fiancé still introduced himself to officer. He scanned his prints again and swore him in. The officer asked him, how we met, how did we build a relationship, how do we talk to each other, how many times have I visited, he told him I was here outside, he said officer smiled, asked where do we stay, he answered and told him my last two visits I stayed at him house, office asked him do you stay alone or with your family, he answered I live in an apartment alone. He asked did I send money western union, he answered no, I work. He asked has he ever been arrested, he asked did he smoke, officer told him that his medical was fine. He looked at our pictures and asked questions about who was in each one. He then asked him KNG or MBAY, then my fiancé said what, he said where do you want DHL to send your passport, then my fiancé said Ooh I guess MoBay. The officer laughed. He gave him his passport, officer gave him DHL slip, and he came out the door. We went over to DHL window and payed for delivery to MoBay. I could see a big delivery bag of visa sitting next to the door.

I looked at all of the past reviews and the questions that they were asked and compiled a list of questions for him. Make sure he knows how to spell your name, as there are several forms that need to be completed while he is waiting for his interview and they include both of your names.

Awesome!!! Thanks for your detailed account of the day.

The DHL fee is now included in the visa fee so no need to make separate payment
