At my interview I could hear another person getting interviewed at window 22. The interviewer was a man, he asked how old was her husband and she 53yrs old. She look like she was about in her 20's. and the man ask her if didn't her husband had girlfriend somewhere. and how could she trust a divorced 53 yr old. it was so bad everyone felt bad for her , but she held ground and didn't let fluster her she told loved her divorced 53 yr old. She was approved.

Is there a glass seperating the Officer and us? I didn't know everyone could here your interview taking place. I'm glad she was able to stand her grounds and get an approval.

Yes there is a glass seperating us from the interviewer. they talk through a mic and the people sitting behind you can hear both you and the interviewer.

My hubby did not get his police report done today. They told him he need to go to another place first before he came back to the station by the time he got to this place it was closed. So know he is upset that he has to go again on Friday. Do you guys know what he was talking about. Kingston is a hall from MoBay so I understand his frustration. :crying: I am praying everything will go smoothly on Friday keeping my fingers crossed.

WHEN I DID MY POLICE RECORD, I WENT TO THE MINISTRY OF SECURITY ON OXFORD ROAD TO PAY FOR IT( I PAID $2000 FOR THE THREE DAY SERVICE) I WAS THEN SENT DOWNTOWN TO DUKE STREET TO GET MY FINGER PRINT TAKEN. AND IN THREE DAYS I GOT MY POLICE RECORD AND THATS WAS IN NOVEMBER. I DID ACTUALLY GO TO A POLICE STATION.

Hello All,

I'm a Newbie, as my little heart to the left calls me :

Since I am new to all this stuff I have a few questions, because this all is very confusing for me. First I must say that I am not married or engaged. My man does live in Jamaica, but no talks of marriage really yet. I however am the type of person that likes to get as much information and knowledge beforehand, as to make a sound decision.

So my questions to you all are:

1. Is it better to get married and file for a marriage visa or to wait and do the fiance visa. I think I heard somewhere that on average the approval timeline is shorter if you apply for a fiance visa.

2. If you do obtain a finace visa, can the SO from Jamaica go back and forth to JA and USA during this 90 days? Meaning can you get the K1 visa go to the States and then go back to JA to get married in JA, and then back to the states again. All within your 90days.

Thanks guys. By the way....I LOVE this site!

Hi Marlita,

Welcome to the thread!!!

1. It really depends on your situation. Yes the K1 (fiance visa) is a lot faster then the K3 and CR1/IR1 (spousal visa). I personally think the CR-1 is the better visa in the long run but not everyone want to wait it out. The K1 is K3 is pretty much the same thing once you arrives in the states b/c you have to do the AOS. If you're more concern w/the speed then the K1 would be your best bet, then the K3 (spousal visa). I am also married but we decided to go the CR1 route b/c it was less expensive and of course the better visa overall.

2. One you visa arrived in the states after he recv his K1 you have 90 days to get married and file for the AOS. He will not be able to leave the country within that time frame or you will need to start over and re-file for him.

Anna

Welcome yardie Marlita.

I agree with Anna the CR-1 Visa is the best choice it maybe longer but it is the least expensive option. He then can leave anytime after arriving to go visit family and friends in JA. You will also won't have to do any paper work once he arrives for 2 years.

I really want to Thank everyone for their good wishes and support. I still can't believe its over.

My Honey got his medical done yesturday his appointment was at 830 and it was a all day experience. He was there until 5:00  The total cost was 14000 J.

Some of my paper work has 3 pole punches in them so that I can put them in a binder. Do you guys think this will be ok? Should I re-copy them and not put hole in them or does it really matter?? I only did things like, my W-2's, taxes, proof of relationship etc... I didn't do any of the forms. I am trying to make sure everything is to their expectation.

Sonshyne,

Did your honey get a copy of the medical?

I don't see it as being a problem to have hole punches, but I would not do it, as I don't want to give them any reason to say ANYTHING... I got a box of sheet protectors, and inserted all of my paperwork in them, and got a cute notebook and dividers to organize everything. Here is a list of everything I have in my notebook... It might be helpful to others:

My cover letter from I 129F
Letter detailing how we met from I 129F
I 129F copy and G325A (for both Jermaine and I)copy from initial filing
Copy of Notarized intent to marry for both of us
NOA1 and NOA2
Letter from DOS stating that I129 F was approved and sent to Embassy in Jamaica
Proof of relationship - Phone Bills, Pictures, Flight Coupons, Money transfer receipts
DS 157 Printed and downloaded from internet. (Original and 2 copies)
Affidavit of Support I-134 (Original and 2 copies)
3 yrs. of 1040's, and W2's
Tax Transcript from IRS
1 yr. of bank statements
5 paystubs
Letter from employer stating date of employment, Salary, Job Title, Full time status
Letter from bank stating date account was opened, and current balance
My Certified birth certificate (and copy)
Jermaines certified birth certificate (and copy)
My divorce decree (previously married)
DS 156 (Original and 2 copies)
DS 156K (Original and 2 copies)
DS 230 Pt.s I and II (Original and 2 copies of each)
Interview Letter
Police Certificate
No Impediment to Marriage Certificate
Jermaines Vaccination Record
Jermaines and My Passport
6 passport photos of Jermaine (4 frontal and 2 side views).

If anyone thinks anything is missing.... please let me know

Wow LovinJA you are really set. I will use your list as a guide as I prepare this month. Somethings will be different but I can use this. Does the 2nd copy of the DS230 part I and II have to be done online? And what do they mean by done online? Do you submit it online or copy it off the online page?

I am praying my husband has a safe trip to Kingston he hates going there. May he have good vibes getting his police records! ahahah

Just wondering how everyone's interview went to day?

Take Care,

hi everyone, i has been quite a day.my interview was today at 8.15, i arrive at the embassy at around 7.15 had to stand in the sun until they called in the person with 8.15 appointment. I had to sit and wait to be called to the prescreening area(which is called section A) then i was sent to sit in Section B. i was then called to a window where i give them my documents(all listed above) plus my birth certificate and marriage certificate, i was then told sit wait again, i was then called to have my finger print taken i was sent to sit and wait again, in Section C this where waited to be called for an interview. When i was called the interviewer asked if i had ever been out of jamaica. she asked how we met? where we met. how often did he visit since we met? how many people were at our wedding, which of his and my family were there? when did i meet his family member who attended the wedding. what does he do for a living, why didn't he visit me between 2001 and 2003.do we have children together or does any of us have children otherwise? did he still live with his mother?,she only asked to see pictures of our wedding(ishowed her 8,i had an album) i answered all questions to the best of my ability, then she said everything was in order and was going give a map to go across the street to pay for the deliver of my visa. she said the actually process can take 2 weeks so make no travel arrangements til i have the visa in my hand. I am so happy thank u all. It's not hard if u r prepared

Thank you all for your well wishes regarding Tony's grandmother :luv: We're still kinda in limbo. He really wants to go down there but we don't have any extra money laying around. We weren't gonna go back to JA until summer or fall. We were just there less than 7 months ago. I told him HE has to make the decision - I can't decide for him. Unfortunately I am the one who always ends up paying for it :( I'll keep you guys updated.

Good luck to all the March 6 interviews  May tomorrow be your lucky day!!

I am starting to panic :crying: The medical appointment is on March 5 and packet #4 still has not arrived yet :o
It was sent out 15 days ago (or so they say) and still hasn't reach us  It's starting to look like we may have to reschdule, which of course means the records won't be at the Embassy in time for the interview :(

Isn't packet four your interview date? I see you already have it scheduled. Maybe you can email the embassy telling them you haven't recieved the letter yet, ask them if they could email the date, once to get the responce print it off and take it to the medical. Just grabbing a straws?

You know what DenDen you are right. The packet we got last week was exactly what he picked up at the Embassy. Packet 4 is the interview letter. The letter came way before packet #3. I read somewhere that a poster bugged the Embassy & they eventually emailed it to them. I tried that route but it didnt happen.

I'll try that, but the problem is that the medical appointment is on Monday morning. So even if they e-mail me on Friday he doesn't have internet access.

Maybe I'm stressing a little too much. It may still come by or before friday. It doesn't make sense that they sent it out 16 days ago and it still has not arrived. Remember I told you all the we never got packet #3 that they claimed they mailed out  and that was back in December :o

when i had emailed them for my package they told me that if i hadn't receive by a certain time i should call and make an appointment to pick the package at embassy. maybe u could try that friday.

I just called my mother in-law she said my hubby got his medical done last week. Hmm confused I thought he needed a appointment letter for an interview. Could he of done this? I know he knows people at MoBay Hospital. If he got this done now are we okay? He is going to Kingston finally on Wed to get police records. I wish he wasn't working in Sav La Mar so I could find this out. Has anyone got a medical without a letter? Hopeful Mom In Law was wrong.

no i dont think u can do that.the doctor i went in kingston wouldn't let a girl to take the medical without her letter.while she was there someone called to tell her they had received her package in the mail. They asked if they could fax the letter to the doctors office and thats the only way she could have her medical done.

No Visa yet :(

No major stunbling blocks ahead. Another physical is needed. Of course had they responded to my emails, we would have already had that taken care of. So she got the blue sheet, though it appears they are willing to try to get things taken care of before the police report expires in a month. So it's an email today telling them when her next physical is scheduled for. They were very quick in responding in Mobay. I was surprised. In the past I could never get through to them. The physical is Monday morning. Back to the emails and phone calls. I hope they can actually come through as promised.

hey eric could give me some tips on what to expect at the interview. did u go into a room or stand at the window. i hope every works out quickly for u.

Anyway, to no avail, Again we will not be staying in KINGSTON. Its not worth an argument so Ill just trust my sweetie & not stay overnight. He feels unsafe & that we will get robbed, car jacked, you name it. Sweetie had his medical this a.m. & all is well on this end. Now we just wait until the big final step.

hi everyone, i had my medical today and it was the most gruelling thing i have ever experience. i got there at 8:00 they open at 7:30 but didn't leave until 2:45 pm. the staff at the doctors office was very rude. all the best to eric today.

HEY, IM GLAD YOU GOT IT DONE. They told him they would send the results to the Embassy. Did you inquire too?

yes i did inquire they said they would send it off. some persons who came for the medical today and has their interview on the 27 or 28 of this month was told that the result won't be there at the embassy when they go for their interview.

That must be a nightmare. Im so glad we knew to do this in advance. No excuses I tell you. Do you think we dare call the Embassy in a week to confirm if it is there or check with the Dr. Office. Where did you go?

Thanks Sonshyne. We are trekking along.

i went to Dr Banbury Office at Medical Associates Hospital. i am not sure if we could do that but nothing beats a trying all they can do is tell that they can't help u. Today at my medical a girl showed up to ask them why her brothers medical did not make it to the embassy for his interview and they both did their medical on Jan 9(hers got to the embassy but his didn't). the receptionist said they sent it off on Jan 16 but the embassy said they did not get. so you could try.

Good Day everyone have a fabolus 3 day weekend. It is Presidents day on Monday here. Oh and I figured out the other holiday in JA its Ash Wed. I knew there were a couple holidays this week just didn't know the days.

I am hoping its easier this time calling the embassy today.

Everyone have a safe weekend and stay warm. I can't believe that ice and snow on that highway out east in PA were everyone was stuck on the ramp forever. Jet Blue reminded me never to fly with them. What a mess.

Everyone have a safe weekend and stay warm.

Best wishes on all the interviews coming up.

i have question about the pictures needed for the medical and the interview? are they the same because i went to take some for my medical coming up on tuesday and for my interview march 6, i even took the print out the embassy sent me with the specifications on how the pictures are to be taken, they listed three photo studios on that same print out and i went to the one in york plaza.but all i got was eight passport size pictures i even ask the photographer if that was the right pictures and he said yes so i jus checking with my well informed fellow VJers if that is so. Yes, all of us who have interviews coming up are going crazy. I cant sleep, I cant eat (thats a plus) I cant focus on anything else but the interview.

Eric- one week to go.

I wish I could answer some peoples questions on the site but I dont feel that I have the expertese. I'll leave that to the veterans.

Congrats to everyone and patience to those still waiting and dealing with the ******* embassy!
