Curried goat lunch put de bite in your bark

It mek you daughter ... It mek you daughter walk and talk

Well the news spread fast like a telegram
Nobody know whey de goat come from
We raise a pot and a pan from an I-aman
Who sit down dey all along

Two twos and the pot a boil
A head a yam and banana tip
Meanwhile quarters a gwan
Lick me goat and a meeeh tek me sip

I have a friend going through seperation, maybe divorce as well. She is 37, but acting like 22 again. Drinking too much, hanging out with people that have a bad influence on her and just being irresponsible. She is one of my best friends though... I have straight out told her when I think she is being immature and irresponsible. She listened but did nothing about it. Until some of those so called friends came back to bite her in the a$$. They used her to pay for drinks, rides etc....
I would agree with not hanging out with her until she figures it out herself. You were right to leave!! Hopefully she wont end up more self destructing. Maybe you and your other friends should "boycott" her and tell her exactly why you are doing it. Hearing it from everyone may help. She may get mad at you, but you trying to help her out of the situation would be the best thing. You wouldnt want to end up saying "I should have done more"....

i disagree with this. she needs you now more than ever...

yea but at the same time
she needs to keep a safe distance
because she WILL carry her down with her if she gets too caught up

Okay, Finesse - I have some dirt or a what would you do situation for you -

One of my friends, who I love to death, has gone through a lot in the past few years (break up of her marriage, etc...) - Her drinking has gotten increasingly out of control - I have spoken to her about it in the past, and she got mad at me - It's not fun to go out with her, cause she can't keep it in control, which means we play babysitter -

Now, Sunday afternoon, we were all out watching the band - I knew she was getting drunk, so I left right when the band started - Another friend of ours emailed me - She ended up driving her home because she found her puking in the alley by the restaurant - Not only that, she was hitting on someone's boyfriend, went off on the band, telling the drummer that he's an f****ng whiteboy who knows nothing about soca, was rude to the waitress and bartender,........... and much worse -

What would you do?

wow!
she needs an intervention
but yunno with situations like this
no matter what you do, it has to click with that person
they have to hit their personal rock bottom
it has to be real for them
nothing u say will work until that happens
so the best you can do is to continue to pray for her
and try as best as possible to be there for her
i probably wouldn't go anywhere with her where its gonna involve drinking

I just lied to my co-worker. She asked to borrow $5 and I told her I didn't have it. I only had a $20 and she takes forever...actually forgets that she owes you...to pay you back. I wasn't in the mood to have that on my mind.

I had to remind her that I paid for her lunch...and I don't like having to do that. Maybe because when I borrow..I'm knocking people out of the way to get to ATM to pay you back.

Should I feel bad? I did lie... mellow.gif unsure.gif

It's funny....when I started looking into this process (before I found VJ) I was anxiously researching attorneys. I paid a few a "consultation fee" just to hear what they had to say. The way they made it seem there was NO WAY I could do this without them.

.....then I found VJ.....

I am glad I "wasted" the money I did doing the research but even happier that I didn't pay one any more than what I did. The help here on VJ is so much more valuable than what any attorney could have provided.

Thank you ladies you are so right, if it wasn't for this site and networking with other individuals who've gone through this process I don't know how things would have progressed to this point.

Here's a little story, the embassy said they mailed my husband's info packet on 12/22 and up to today he still has not received those documnents. If it was not for my cousin who told me a horror story of one person missing her interview because she did not receive her packet in the mail, we would have sat and wait, however with saying that I am not one to sit back and think things will be ok if have any feeling that I'm being cornered. I say that to say after waiting for 1 wk and constantly calling the Post Office in Jamaica and coming up emptied handed, I had to take matters in my own hands so that my husband could get a duplicate copy. You should see my phone bill, mi mumma

I sent atleast 5 emails to this address KingstonIVinfo@state.gov and I kid you not, nobody answered my emails. I know they read it because I have return receipt in my outlook. Well needless to say after seeing no results I decided to call. Now that was a nightmare, I was on the phone for almost an 1 hour before I got through. This is after some real bad attitude and couple of hang ups. :help:

I had to literally stay on the phone with one young miss, who said she will send me an email with an appointment for my husband to come to the window to collect a duplicate copy of his appointment packet. I did not get off the phone until the email was in my inbox. I forwarded the email to my husband and as soon as he got his packet I told him to make an appointment for his medical which was 1 wk ago. If you don't do that and wait to do it just before your interview date, then your medical will be delayed and then you know what can happen.

I maybe wrong, but I think the system in Jamaica sucks big time, the feeling that I got with dealing with embassy is that they don't care and will hold people back. I said they don't care because one young woman at the embassy told me that after they send out the packet then if doesn't receive it, it's not their fault and quite frankly there is nothing they can do about it \o/

I'll be attending the interview with my husband next week Thursday, we have everything they've asked for. At this point it's out of my hands and in God's and the US Embassy in Kingston. I'll share my story when I rteurn on the 9th.

Thanks for your support on this board I really appreaciate it :)

good evening / morning to everyone :)

so much great stuff happening with all the new dates...we got an interview date as well, after stalking the embassy...the 6th of march. SOOO excited! :)

i'm great vibes out to everyone still waiting...it is the hardest thing to wait and wonder what's going on...but it WILL start to move soon and it is so worth the wait...

i just have a quick question (for now, there are millions of them buzzing around my brain suddenly) - for those of you who have gone through the k-1 process, how much did his/her medical end up costing? we're just tying to estimate costs and i've heard it is about 250 on average...does that sound right?

thanks to everyone who has sent good energy and given such great info and advice...i would have checked into the loony bin by now if it wasn't for this space... :)

hey keishino. i will be at the embassy on the same day

Lovely Jodie I won't be attending the interview in Kingston with my husband. I have prepared him with all paperwork and documents 3 folders full of items. Make sure he mails you all the work he has done on your case and information that will help you. Tell him to label everything so you will know where to find it if they ask for it.

Like the forms he filled out to petition for you to come to the states. The I-130, DS230, 2302 form, his tax information on the 864. Make sure he photo copies it all and sends it to you. Then you will have all the documentation.
