Learned something new from the Jamaican Gleaner today:

QUOTE
If a person travels to the United States and attempts to change their status within 30 days of arrival, the presumption on the part of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, (USCIS) is that the visitor (non-immigrant) intended to change their status at the time they entered. That presumption can lead to the denial of any change of status by USCIS, as it is seen as misuse of the visitor's visa.

Ok...been having some behavioural issues with my 8 (soon 9 year old)
Been asking for some alternative punishments and my co workers have suggested

making him stand in the corner
making him do yard work for neighbours
making him eat unsweetened oatmeal for dinner
standing in the corner arms outstretched with a can of beans in each hand

Can anyone else suggest some legal and effective punishments??
I have been taking him toys and games away, making him stay in his room, to no avail. So will try these, but would love to hear some more!

Hey English; I do this and it works, but I don't hide it, I put it where he can see it and I DEAR him to touch it and bet you seh mi no bruck all 10 a u fingah dem (I tell him just like that). The punishment has to last for a long time, MAKE HIM MISS it toys or games or tv --- at the start of the school year my son was showing out and I took away his DIGS for 3 MONTHS! no problem since and school done next week;

and yes, I'm one of those crazy mothers that will show up at school in her nightgown, with rollers in her hair, bedroom slippers and a belt wrapped around my next...

See that is the same thing I did to my oldest and it worked too. I boxed all his stuff up and put in the middle of the room and dared him to touch it. It does work!!! I told him if he thought about opening that box he’ll be opening doors with his toes for the rest of his life. I don’t plan no games. My oldest has been getting sloppy on his kitchen duty. So this past weekend I took his phone and I have the nerve to talk on it when he's around. I’m quick to tell my friends call me on Da's number... Boy does it get under his skin!! I told him he's too busy talking at night he's not doing a good job on his chores so to help him improve I'll take away his distraction.

the others i can see as reasonable
unsweetened oatmeal? as punishment?
nah, i think if anything that will encourage him to associate healthy stuff with punishment

i remember in primary school we had to do the arm outstretched thing
we also had to stand in one place holding one leg up with one arm and putting the other arm on our head and it was VERY effective

So I have a lil adjustment story for ya'll to start the week with:

As some of you know we have had a lil barber issue in that A keep saying he wouldn't go to a white barber. I took my son to the barber on Saturday but A still wouldn't sit in the chair. Well in the afternoon my daughter comes running in the kitchen dancing and grinning and said A wants to know if you want to cut his hair. I said I would be honored - I walk down to the bathroom and shout OMG!! He was bald!! Apparently he let Alexa cut his hair - WITHOUT THE GUARD on the razor. I said that is pure love if you let a 7 year old cut your hair!!

that is so sweet
i'm 20 yrs older than your baby girl and my hubby won't even let me touch his hair with scissors sad.gif
i keep threatening him that i'm gonna cut it while he sleeps yes.gif

*just asked him and gave in but said i have to use shears
now where the hell am i supposed to get those from? laughing.gif
i'm not buying them just to cut his hair
eff dat! i'm gonna use scissors

unless i am misinterpreting your question, immigration in jamaica not supposed to give any jamaican problems

okay.. i am just being paranoid i guess. thinking he might get questioned big time or something with it being a visitor visa, i don't want him to miss the flight.. thanks

LOVESPONGE -- do not let him go to JAMAICA with out the AP, they will not let him back in the country and ya'll will have to start all over again. My husband's mom passed 1 week after I mailed out the AOS packet and the packet was destroyed in an accident at the FEDEX facility. I didn't find that out until two week after sending it, so I had to send another packet on 8/13 I got all three NOAs after that. I called USCIS and the Jamaican Embassy here in DC and was told that he should NOT travel without the AP. So, USCIS said they would do their best to expedite the AP form. To my surprise it just showed up in the mail the following week, but it was too late his mom was be laid to rest in 2 days. We just told them to go ahead with the funeral. Girl, it was a mess, but we got through it. We ending up getting another set of AP in October (don't know why).

Some people don't have issues with the AP whenthey leave Jamaica and others do. I know alot of the IO at Mobay are not familiar with the forms and I tell people if they giving you a hard time, just ask for a supervisor.

They can't EXPEDITE the AP until you have filed AOS.

wow what an awful thing to happen
what a stress that must have been

Morning Yardie Family!

I am so far behind LOL but hopefully today is not crazy at work and I can post , I miss you guys!

Did everyone have a good weekend?

I did!!! I went to two cookouts. One on Sat and the other on Sunday. The one on Saturday was just o.k. It was sort of a b-day celebration and the best thing about it was the cocktails. I went to the liquor store and they were giving out simples of this Peach Tea drink and when you mix it with Lemonade oh my goodness it was so good. I ended up buying a bottle so I was the life of the party but the food there was horrible. The burgers tasted like Tofu and they were supposed to be 100 %beef burgers. I told the host and she wasn’t too pleased with me. Oops. The one on Sunday rocked they had all kinds of food and it was good. Nothing like Shrimp on a grill. I have to try that!!! They also had cocktails too so I was in rear form. I watched the BET awards and I wasn’t too pleased with them. I got bored and went home and heard I missed the best part when Janet came out and when Maxwell sung my song Pretty Wings. Ughhhhhhh crying.gif

But its o.k. because I know they are going to show them over and over again a million times.

mi seh gyal!! i was soooo disappointed in them
i sat there for 4 hours waiting for the grand tribute to michael jackson and was left hanging
