Interview FEE in Kiev (Ukraine)

In ENG version you can pay only in Kiev branches of ProCredit Bank.

“ .. pay a $131.00 non-refundable machine-readable-visa fee on the day of the interview. Beginning January 01, 2008 the fee for K and V visa can be paid only at the bank, in Ukrainian hryvnyas: ProCredit Bank currently offers this service at the following branches: … “

In Ukrainian version you can pay at any branch in Ukraine

“…??? ????????? ??????? ???????? ????’??????? ???? ?? ??????? ?????????? ??? ????????? ??????????????? ???? ??? ? ??????? 131 ?????? ??? ? ?????????? ??????????? ?? ??????, ???????????? ??????????? ?? ???? ?????????? ?????? ? ????-????? ?????????? ????????? ????? ? ???????. … “

http://kiev.usembass...sa_fee_ukr.html

For us it makes a big difference, I like to have a paid this fee before the interview day, just in case.

If you have this fee paid already, where did you pay?

Thank you,

B&Y

Viktoriya went to Kiev for her medical exam two weeks before the interview and paid the fee then. She left with me after the visa was delivered to Fedex, and wanted to have everything possible done before the day of the interview. I understood that you can pay at any Procredit Bank, but there were none in her city. Good Luck!

Update:

I am hand carrying my tax returns, as well as corresponding W-2s and 1099s from last year showing over 50k in income. It also shows a $4700 refund. So that will be applied to my 10k balance. I just got off the phone withe the IRS. They are faxing me my statement, showing that I have been making my $400 monthly payments on time every month since last May.

I have sent the wife, and I am bringing with me all of the emails I have. It's not much, cause she doesn't use the computer much. Also, 20 pages in phone bills to Thailand. More photos of us together. I asked my previous landlord and previous co-worker in Bangkok to write a letter for me attesting that we were a legitimate couple, and we lived together at the address in Bangkok I provided to USCIS and NVC.

I can't think of anything else. If anyone has any other ideas, let me know. I leave for BKK in the morning, and will be going to the Embassy Monday afternoon Thailand time to drop this info off in person.

Good luck daboyz

Looks like you've really got everything organized. I think you've got a great plan together, and hopefully you'll sail through quickly from this point.
Keep in mind the recent experience of Aaron, who came through BKK interview (K1). He also needed to provide additional evidence of relationship after an initial denial - after mustering an organized file similar to yours, they had no problem on the repeat visit. For what it's worth - I think you have a damn fine presentation here!

Let us know how it goes. Hopefully you get the visa approved and are on your way home with your wife very quickly.

If it is in fact a denial, have a lawyer (a tax lawyer, not an immigration lawyer) file an offer in compromise to settle the IRS bill. The petition and denial should be evidence enough of circumstances warranting a compromise.

Common sense would indicate the answer could not be anything else... Since the father is not "legally" established, whom would you get "clearance" from?

Picture this at the interview..

CO: I see no father is listed on the birth certificate, who is the father of your child?

Applicant: I do not know.

CO: Then please get a clearance letter from him....

Just covering my bases. Sometimes the immigration process is not dictated by common sense. In my first post in the thread I indicated that she does know who the father is but he abandoned them before the child was born and before they were married. Having to get permission from the father in Germany would have been extremely difficult if not impossible.

Understood, but the problem being there is no established legal paternal relationship documented anywhere.... She could indicate Santa Claus if she wanted to...

Now that would be a tough clearance to get.

True. So if someone's name is spelled Garry, it is the same as someone spelled Gary? Stephen and Steven? Would an American accept this? "Oh get over it, it is pronounced the same" And that doesn't even address the ethnic and political underlying issues which are a big deal to some people. It is a little more than someone's guess at Cyrillic to Roman transliteration. (which can always be a problem) Russian doesn't use the "i" and "ii" of the Cyrillic alphabet and such things are viewed as very important in Ukraine where they can get real nit-picky about name spellings on documents (at least until you give them a bribe, which I do not rule out as the main cause for this) Fortunately, as I point out, the US consulate recognizes it and allows for it. I felt it may be a concern to VJ members, we get lots of questions on lesser issues ("Can I use a pen to fill in the forms?") and thought it may be of assistance to people who deal with this problem.

How would Gary or Garry or Steven or Stephen even know how there name would be written using the cryllic alphabet? Arabic? Chinese? The only reason that this is an issue is that some Ukrainians have seen the Russian transliteration before... had they not, they would not know the difference...

Don't get me wrong... My wife was not happy with Svitlana... when we married we changed it to Svetlana

Ignorance is bliss, isn't it? smile.gif

Sure, and Sergey will change it to Sergey as he does not want his green card name spelled "Sergei". It was "sergey" in his mothers passport and now he needs his own, we have the same issue with Pavlo and Pavel (Pasha is his short name) but at least we knew it before all the other forms and translations were complete. It WAS an issue for Aerosvit airlines and I just changed the name on the reservation a few minutes ago.

My concern with posting this is to inform VJ members that for the consulate anyway, it is not an issue.

My wife has the same issue. She prefers Viktoria, but gets Viktoriya. She has decided to live with it for now, so as not to delay anything further. At least that was the story five minutes ago. More to follow..... laughing.gif

Yes, you will have to provide an affadavit, and it sounds like you will need parents or some other co-sponsor to participate. You will have to provide all required documents on the application - and in this case some one who has the necessary income or assets for support of your SO.

Happy to see that it all worked out Gary. This must be a load off everybody's mind.

Just a comment about service and scheduling. Vika recently received her AOS interview notice. The interview was scheduled for the 20th of August as you know. We had planned to be out of town that day, and had purchased tickets. After calling the USCIS service center per the instructions for rescheduling, and getting the usual "we will submit your comments, but cannot tell you anything about a new date - or anything else" we made an infopass appointment. Vika was due to leave for Ukraine on AP three weeks later, and we were afraid the new date would fall during that time - putting it back until November. I wanted to post up here that the local field office in Louisville rescheduled the interview for a week earlier than the notice, producing a new appointment letter during our infopass appointment. I appreciate your advice while we were both wiggin' out that first weekend.

I'm glad you posted this also, Brad. I was thinking of making a comment about your case also, but better that you did. It is good to know, at least at some point when you can deal with the local office, that the service seems better. Once it gets to the AOS and gets into the local office's jurisdiction, things seem to be a lot more reasonable. Maybe it is because they have to look you in the eye. smile.gif

Good luck with your interview

Cheers - I will post about it.

As I was reading an example of the Packet 3/4 email that the Sydney Consulate sends, I noticed it asks for proof of engagement. I am going to guess that most, if not all Consuls ask for this....so, what did you take to show this? Off the top of my head I am going to show my engagement ring and a copy of the receipt for it, pictures from our engagement dinner, and emails in which we discuss our wedding plans and such. That would be sufficient, right? Along with ongoing relationship proof, of course. Keep in mind that my fiance and I aren't going to be seeing each other until I touch down at LAX with my visa in hand.

I showed them the ring receipt and of course she was wearing the ring for the interview. No problem for us.

FWIW, we never did buy an engagement and Alla does not have one to this day. She has a simple wedding band we bought after her arrival here. I have never heard of an engagement ring being proof of anything. I am wearing my Father's wedding ring and never bought one for myself, that does not make our marriage any less valid. No such silly things were ever asked for or needed for the interview or the AOS.

Gary - you are WAY off base with this dude! Everybody knows that a big, sparkly, expensive rock is irrefutable proof that you have more money than sense - and are willing to (as I did) spend a big slug on this symbol that really isn't required in her culture. Honestly, Vika did appreciate it, and the AOS interviewer did comment on it (that it was pretty - not that it was necessary) laughing.gif

Yep, I walked right up to the window with her. No questions for her (other than "can you speak English?"), and only a comment or two about the visas in my passport. Others in Ukraine have had the same experience, but I can't speak to Russia. It seems that being present in the building and available would accomplish the same thing, insofar as it is pretty solid proof that you have met in the past two years. You would also be available to attest personally to your intent to marry.

The consulate in Kiev does not allow for the petitioner to attend the interview (at least thats what my fiance said when she went for the interview). You could fly to Kiev, but you have to stand outside the building and wait. Totally pointless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were no other USC there when your fiancee went? When I went for the K-1 there were 6 interviews and 3 USC present. All went up to the window with their fiancee. For our son's interview (age 18) my WIFE also went and went up to the interview window and wouldn't stop talking!!!!!! There were 6 other fiancees there, 4 with USCs, including another VJ member, and some even brought their children along (though they are not required under age 14), the room was packed with about 12 people. My wife isn't even a US citizen and is not the petitioner! (she IS the K-1 on which his K-2 was derivitive of) When we returned, we were on a flight with another VJ member, who had been present at his fiancee's interview, but was unable to go and fly back with her. Alla helped her fill out her I-94 cards (for her and her son) at JFK and helped her get through POE. Kiev has a very liberal policy of allowing US citizens into the interview. I can assure you, my presence was NOT totally pointless.

I had the same experience as Gary and Joe outline in their posts. I went along, into the embassy, up to the window - no problems. There were actually more questions for me than Vika (none of them related to the visa other than "you know you have to marry within 90 days or her arrival, right?"). I don't think the State Dept. tracks it that way, but I won't swear to it. Ukraine is apparently pretty easy on K-1s though. That is especially true if the USC goes to the interview. So long as the paperwork is all done correctly and there are no legal problems, you have a good shot.

For Turkey they will only accept the forms UPS from Turkey or he US so we had him fill them all out and mail them to me. After I proofed and copied them I UPS'd them to turkey.

Good luck and swift travel.

hi every one,

on package 3 tha US embassy in Turkey (anakra) is sending out for K1 visa, they are asking for the followings but is little bit confusing,

they said to send them:

Form DS-230 Part I (“Biographic Data”), ( BUT ON THE WEBSITE IT SAYS SEND BOTH PAGES TO AVOIDE ANY DELAY?!)

Send the whole thing but do not sign the last part, it will be asked under oath during the interview and signed then

Form DS-156 (“Application for a Nonimmigrant visa”) in duplicate, "WHY DUPLICATE, DOES IT MEAN THAT THEY NEED 2 COPIES OF THE SAME FORM? BECAUSE THIS IS AN ONLINE AUTO GENERATED FORM!!"

Yes, two copies

Form DS-156K (“ Nonimmigrant Fiance Visa Application”) to be filled out by all principal applicants, "DOES IT MEAN JUST THE BENEFITIARY?

The Fiance, and any children which may be coming also

DS-157 (“Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application”) to be filled out by all Iranian applicants in duplicate b] "WHY DUPLICATE, DOES IT MEAN THAT THEY NEED 2 COPIES OF THE SAME FORM? with the same info of the benefitiary?"[/b]

2 Copies

Form I-134 (Affidavit of Support) together with evidence which may be presented to meet the public charge provisions of the law must be fully completed. "TOGETHER?!!! WITH WHO?! "

Not who, what. They want proof, the letter from your employer tax records, bank records, whatever you think will be needed to prove you can support your fiance and meet the income requirements.

here is the link: http://turkey.usemba...k1k2_010609.pdf (2nd page, 2nd item)

And remember to make at least one extra copy of everything for yourself. The embassy may lose your paperwork or it may become lost in transit.

Good luck

Just an update. He went to the embassy today and they have not put the visa in his passport yet.........they have had it since Monday. Since they are not open Sat. or Sunday, he is looking at getting in Tuesday at the earlies. Meanwhile he is having to pay for hotel, food, etc while he waits. I know it is his countries fault we have no embassy there but it is not his fault. Maybe by Tuesday or Wednesday he will have his visa.

Maybe I am just getting really antsy but I want him here now. His visa was finally approved and he went to Ankara Monday and did whatever and left his passport to get his visa in it. They only return it UPS in Turkey so he is staying in a hotel waiting for it. Of course tomorrow being Friday UPS does not run.
Does anyone know how much longer he will have to wait? or have any experience in how long it takes to get the visa?
After what I read on the MENA forum about the misdelivered Egyptian passport I am starting to get worried.

Thanks

My SO did not ever receive his forms either. I had him download them from the internet and fill them that way. I am surprised they scheduled an interview without having the packet returned first. With us we had to return the filled packet to them then they scheduled the interview.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWow, Is this TRUE?
Being a female hopefully it won't take so long but be prepared for the worst. anywhere from 3 months to 3 years.

My fiance interviewed in Ankara three times, First interview they asked him three questions, lasted three minutes. Second time he just turned in his passport, waited a week and no visa, third time like two questions.

He did say they were very rude, he saw one man tear up a lady's paperwork because it was wrong, he waited like all day. So be prepared.

Overall good luck and the process will end soon. We just celebrated our one year anniversary
