Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDMW requesting extention letter for ID card
QUOTE (Mr and Mrs Bird @ Aug 17 2009, 11:12 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all.

I recieved a letter from DMV last week that they need to see an extention letter in order to keep my ID card. I guess this is my driverslicense. My green card expires oct 23 2009 and they need it 61 days before it expires. Has anyone had the same letter?

I was wondering if I need to go to the SS office too. Or is my SSN card good forever?

Any experience about this guys?

Anette

not positive, but if I recall correctly, what the letter says is the document your sending has to be valid for more than 60 days from the expiration date of your driver's license or ID Card. as others have said, just send the I-797 extension letter from your I-751 and you'll be set to go... good.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIs this odd or usual?
we also did not receive a Biometrics appointment letter yet for our daughter. we did receive an extension letter. I've seen this question posted on VJ recently, about biometrics with ROC for children under age 14. I haven't been able to find out anything on the USCIS website. my wife's Biometric apt is Sept 11. all I know now is not to take my daughter out of school if she doesn't have a Bio Apt.
anyone have a clear cut answer if Biometric Apt. is done for children under age 14?

HELLO!!!! It's sooo nice to hear from old friends. Thank you all for the response, it helps to ease some of my worries. I've been trying to call USCIS but it's so hard to get a live person.

I included my son, John, in the I-751 form and paid for two biometrics. While I received a NOA (I-797c) extending my status for one year, John received a separate letter from DHS-USCIS in plain bond paper called "Verification of Inclusion of a Dependent in Filing of Form I-751". It essentially tells him that he is "included as a dependent in the request for removal of conditions by the above-named principal alien and that this verification extends the validity of your alien registration and allows you to remain in the United States, with work authorization for one year from the filing date or until a final decision is made on the request whichever comes first."

And so I received my biometrics appointment but John did not. If I don't get a live person at the USCIS or John does not receive a bio apppoinment in the next few days, I will just make a decision to pick him up from school so we can do biometrics together. I am sure that once I explain our circumstance at the Service Center (you know, drive 7 hours each way to pick up/drop the kid) that they will let him do it.

Thanks again for the feedback. I appreciate it.

PW

PW,

I'm pretty sure that you will have to at the very least know what his actual case number is. There is one on the "Verification of Inclusion" letter but it isn't the actual number that is used for biometrics. I have been told by a couple of VJ members that without that number they CANNOT do the biometrics for your son's application for ROC.. simply because they don't have any reference where to enter the information. Hopefully the letter arrives soon.

CB

yap, child needs their own receipt number to have biometrics taken at ASC.

our daughter, 13 years old, has not yet received a Bio apt. notice. Yazi has already had her bio apt. if a child does not have a Bio Apt, they will not take Biometrics. I've seen it mentioned in VJ, that under 14 do not have Biometrics taken for ROC. I haven't been able to confirm it, hopefully can get some feedback from those who have kids in ROC.

We got approval.

My 12 years old daughter never received biometric or even extension letter. When I called them I was told that because her age she would not have biometric done .

We took her along for my biometric and explained the situation. They said she SHOULD HAVE a biometric but it could not be done that day because they didn't have my daughter's biometric receipt number and that I would receive it yet. blink.gif

Well, I gave up. I think they use the kid's biometric information from AOS.

Just as an FYI for those of us in the above situation... this is taken from the instructions to Form I-90:

You must apply for a new card within 30 days after reaching your 14th birthday to replace a card issued before your 14th birthday....

So regardless of any expiration date on the card... when the child hits 14 you must get a new one, and this time it will include "full blown" biometrics... So for me, my child turns 14 in September, so less than a year after getting the one in process right now, we do it again....

our daughter will also turn 14 next summer. this makes a little more sense now. maybe this bit of information could be added to the guide so it would be less confusing for those in the process with a similar situation.

My wife has really been sweating this one !!! Her biometrics appointment is for Monday afternoon and it is now Friday (3 days before the appt.) and we still haven't received my daughters biometrics appointment letter ..

UGHHHH WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ??????????

Well, I just got off of the phone with USCIS and explained the situation to a customer service rep and he said, "Just take her along and they should go ahead and do her while you are there." I then explained that everybody I have talked to said they got appointment letters for their minor children as well and at the very least I thought I should have her biometrics receipt number when we go, he replied, " Please hold while I research your question." About a minute later he gets on the phone and says, "I am going to have to escalate your case, will you please hold again?" About 15 seconds later another individual answers and I explain the situation to her, she asks for my daughters A# and looks up her case.. She then tells me my daughters biometrics receipt number and tells me to go online at uscis.gov and print out the case status page and to present it on Monday when my wife has her biometrics so they will do my daughters biometrics at the same time. WHEW !!!!

Well, for now it seems we have the problem solved but only time can tell what Monday will bring. I'll let you know for sure when I know for sure ..

Good luck to everyone in their journey,
CB

I am in the same situation... My wife's appointment is Thursday and we still do not have an appointment letter for "little" payxibka... I had almost come to the conclusion that an under 14 child did not need biometrics eventhough we had to pay for it...
Please report back on Monday....

I think there are a few of us in the same situation. also waiting to see what happens....

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionK-2 Biometrics

That's my understanding as well, though I was told by the CSC person that we wouldn't have to pay the biometrics again, since we paid it as part of the I751 and biometrics weren't taken. That said, I fully expect to have to pay it again. :hehe:

when I called the USCIS National Customer Service Center, one person told me that we also have to pay the application fee fo the I-90.the instructions clearly state you do not if the card expires after 16th birthday. guess that's why at times the NCSC is called the " misinformation line".

In our situation, our daughter never received a biometrics appointment during ROC. she received her 10yr green card a couple of months before her 14th birthday. after she turned 14, we filed an I-90, paying just the biometrics fee since her card will not expire before her 16th birthday. we've gone the the ASC for her biometrics, now just waitng for her new green card.

your situation sounds very similar to ours. Our daughter was 13 years old when my wife filed for ROC. our daughter never recieved a biometrics appointment. when we took her to my wife's biometric appointment, but they couldn't be taken since she hasn't scheduled an appointment. our daughter received her ten year green card about 3 months before her 14th birthday. when she turned 14, when filed an I-90 to have her green card replaced. we had to pay the biometrics fee, but not the application fee for the I-90.

I don't know know if anything has changed in the past couple of years. my wife had the same situation when she was in ROC. her extension letter was accepted and she received a DL that expired in one year. the extension letter should be accepted as a legal presence document. I'd go back to DMV and ask to speak with a supervisor or try a different DMV office.

Philippinesnew USCIS fees go into effect July 30th

Thank you, than you for this info. I am quite relieve now.
She is only 5 (or 6) when that time comes.

We are greatly affected by the increase of fees. For one, I and my child will be traveling together so this means, we have to AOS together too ($1,010 x 2!!!..correct me if I am wrong). On the other hand, if we have to pursue CR-1 now, we were not able to send my child's I-130 same time as mine because we are planning of sending it along with our AOS package. Worst case, I can not tag her along. :crying:

if your child is under 14 and AOS same time as you, the fee for your child would be $600.

hope you'll be able to go K-3 so your child can have K-4. I know how hard it would be to leave your child behind.
best of luck with the remainder of the process.

the Embassy website says only EVAF will be accepted after Nov 1. that's the way my fiancee is doing it. a third page will be printed with a barcode. the barcode contains info entered on the DS-156. the Embassy just needs to scan it to enter into system.

When you say "Forms LIKE the DS156", do you mean ONLY the DS156? Or do you mean DS156K and DS157 must also be done online? I have the link for the DS156 online, but don't see online links for others which generate barcodes.
[/quote]

the DS-156 is the only form REQUIRED to be done online. it will print a third page with a barcode. important to save that page. the inform entered is not sent to the Embassy. when at the interview, the barcode will be scanned to input inform on the form. using pdf fillable not necessary unless you have messy handwriting like me.

Wow these crystal ball guesses are great.

I was wondering if these estimates will work on I-130 visas.
Since you are going by the case number, I assume all our case numbers would work the same way.
Mine is 2006775xxx so I'm hoping my interview date would be early march.

Anyone know if this chart would apply to I-130 visas as well?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, I think for I-130 they schedule the interview based on the Date the Case was Completed. And those who got their case completed on August are all waiting for their schedule to come out pretty soon.....It's kind of confusing isn't it???? But dont worry were all gonna get it soon....We just need to be patient...as if its the easiest thing to do!!! Anyway, I hope you'll get it soon and Have a Good Day!!!

I believe biaNcaSheY is right. K visa's and IR visa's are processed differently. with K visa, your put on waiting list when physiscal petition reaches the Embassy. with an IR, believe the case has to be completed
first. My crystal ball has only been calibrated for K Visa's. best of luck, hope your wait isn't too long.

OMG....We didn't know about a cenomar! It amazes me that I have an atorney and he has said nothing of this! Where does she get a cenomar?

When my wife went for her interview at the U.S. Embassy in Manila they had already acquired a CENOMAR. She was a K3 visa applicant, already married.
So, just because you are already married does not guarantee that a CENOMAR is not necessary.
Also, don't waste your time or money getting a CENOMAR: the U.S. Embassy only accepts the CENOMARS they order.
This was true in 2003 and from what I'm reading has not changed.
Hope this helps!

that was true in he past. the Embassy would not accept it if you submitted it. they would order it themselves.
the packet 4 we are now receiving list the Cenomar as a required document to be submitted.

Maybe my second-to-last question before the interview in two-weeks. On question 31 of DS-156 we checked "yes" to a tourist-visa being refused two years ago. Unfortunately she no longer has any of the paperwork associated with this failed attempt to see her friend in Guam. Are we expected to show documention, or will they (the embassy) be able to varify this if needed?

Hello,

I also put yes there and just wrote the date of my interview and the place, that's it...I think there's no need of any documentation as it is a tourist visa and it was denied so what is there to ask for and they don't give reason for their denials as well...

a denied tourist visa has no bearing or effect on the application for a k-1 visa.

What does the $18 payment get me for the PIN? Manila has my case, and we are waiting for Package 4? Will they be able to give me an idea when Tita will be scheduled? Thank you.

you will not receive packet 4 till after you have been scheduled an interview. the call center will probably tell you it will be 120 to 150 days from the date your petition arrived at the Embassy to be scheduled an interview. from your timeline your looking at possibly Feb, if not then March interview.

Hello Everyone,

I have been away a few days on business travel and just returned. Congratulations to all who are approved. Can anyone tell me when the Visa Schedule site is updated? After about 10 attempts I was able to speak to someone at the US embassy in Manila. They have had Rosemarie's file since 09/05, but no Packet 4 yet? We were so much hoping for a December interview.

Maybe I am not entering the numbers correctly? Does MNL proceed the numbers? Does anyone know when they update the Visa Interview site and how often?

Good luck to all!
