IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresconfusion on G-325a

Hi everyone!

I am very new to this site and also new to this CR1 visa trip,so bare with my "not so new questions"
Me & my husband got stuck on a few things when we were trying to assembly the I130 package for the uscis
first one is the section in the G325a form,on the very bottom that says:"this form is submittet in connection with an aplication for..." ?? do we have to put permanent resident or other /I-130 form? And how many forms each do we need?

thanks a lot,I appreciate your help!

I put the I-130 also. Only because the G325 form went with the I-130 packet that I sent in.
Now which forms are you talking about for how many you need?

This should help you some with your questions!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to write affidavits

Do they have to be US citizens writing the affidavits?

Do they have to have physically met both of us?

They don't have to be US citizens to write the affidavits.

In fact the ones I had gotten were people who were close to me, like my daughter, who didn't meet my husband until after we were married.
Also, I had my supervisor write one because I had gotten my husband on my insurance at work. I had to submit the marriage license in as proof.
Also personal friends of both my husband and myself and coworkers who know me.
I used the templates here on VJ and changed some of the wording around.

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Questions

I sent the package including the I-864 and the other required papers, and received the interview date today.
I was wondering, what should i have during the interview, what kind of paper and evidences. What kind of questions should i be expecting?

Thank you in advance.

Congratulations with getting your inteview date! You should fill out your timeline so that way VJ can have the info to add it to the stats.

If you look under the tab Embassy Info for Egypt there is alot of reviews and example questions from past interviews that can help you. Also, which visa are you going for? That help to tell you what papers you will need!

Good luck with your interview!Posted Image

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCrazy RFE - Affidavit of Support
Do what Darnell suggested. Just bring a new 864 packet from your cosponsor with you to the interview. After you get your number and they call you up to the first window, give them the new 864 packet with whatever supporting documents is needed and any other papers you have. *like your divorce decree from previous marriage* Don't wait for them to ask, have them in hand and ask them IF they want it. It'll show them you are on top of your game and ready for them to give you the visa!!

Good luck Aishah, I know you guys will do great!!!Posted Image

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresgetting prepared for NVC process
Congrats on getting a head start to the NVC!!

I used James and Ling Che's short cuts LOL. Best thing possible is to get ALL the documents you can from your husband so you can be ready to send in each one of the packets to the NVC when they are ready for it.

Once you get your 2nd NOA showing the I-130 was approved, wait about a week and call the NVC and you can use the automated response to put in your receipt number from the NOA to see if they have assigned your case number yet. Once you get that, call the NVC and give them BOTH yours and your hubby's email address that way you can do everything necessary online...MUCH quicker than the snail mail!

I don't want to give you too much info yet, it'll just confuse you! So good luck on everything and we are here to help you!

They basically want proof that you have an on going relationship with your wife. Any pictures, emails, still shots of skype or yahoo chats. Letters, cards anything that will give them proof that your marriage is a bona fide relationship. Show receipts of hotels or vacations that you have taken with your wife, boarding passes of her coming to Egypt.
Good luck with your journey!

We used both James' and LingChe's shortcuts for our journey.
Our time frame was 67 days through USCIS
69 days through NVC (1 RFE that delayed us a good week)*hubby didn't send original Arabic birth certificate! GRRR*
and we had 208 days between our first NOA and the interview.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAdding alien spouse to bank account
I just got my husband added to our bank account here in the US. He had to have his social security number and a second form of identification. He used his conditional green card since he doesn't have his driver's license or FL state id card yet.
There was some hesitation of accepting his green card, but after talking to management, they said it was acceptable.

I read somewhere that to add someone to an account they had to physically be there. Something about a law to prohibit people to open or add people to accounts because of money laundering? Can't remember off hand.

Here is the information for your wife's medical examination. You can find it on the us embassy in cairo website.

http://cairo.usembas...sular/ivmei.htm

There is a list of doctors and clinics that she can use. All she needs to bring is a print out of the email containing the interview date.
It takes about 10 days to get the sealed envelope with the results that she needs to take to the interview with her so she needs to plan accordingly.

Hi Everyone,
I went and got my Army Authorization to travel but they wrote visiting reason not immigration.
Is that ok? I told the officer, I'm immigrating and he said either visiting or going for education and he also said " ill write visiting but if u don't want to come back its ok"
Just wanted to be sure i got right info.
Thank you everyone for your time.

That is what they put down for my husband too. It doesn't matter, as long they let you leave the country.
I told my husband that maybe they made it that way so that if you want to move back to Egypt then they left the door cracked open for ya!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed input

Heres the story. prior to filing our I-130 my wife tried to get a tourist visa it was denied due to her having a USC husband. In the interview for the visa the consular asked when we met. My wife was so nervous she said June or July when in fact we met in October. I had never been in her country prior to October. The consular was typing into the computer all the answers. I am concerned this may pose a problem at the interview for our CR-1 as when the question arises when we met we need to answer October this conflicts with the previous answer. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or how to handle this situation. All I think about all day is this stupid problem and how to handle it. Thanks to all.

If an issue does rise because of it, just be honest. The CO realizes that this is a nerve wrecking event and can see when someone is nervous. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi,

I am getting worried because until now the documents that my husband sent to the NVC is not yet available on their system... It will be two weeks tomorrow since we sent it... How long we need to wait to get the complete case and the interview date?

When he sent them in to the NVC, did he send it with a signature confirmation? Have you called and talked to an OP yet?
I would think with the holiday this past weekend, hopefully you will hear something soon.

Congratulations on getting the approval.
Now your file is being moved to the NVC. In a couple of weeks your wife can call and find out what your case number will be and give them both yours and her email addresses. This will make it go by quicker.
The time frame for your case totally depends on how quickly you can get through the NVC. There are some good guides to help you get through quicker.
Search in VJ for James' Short Cuts and LingChe's short cuts, they will help you.
Here is a flow chart for the NVC.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswhat do i do?!

Hello everyone:)

I wanted to ask a question involving Ds-230 i had asked before in question 23,about education, what to write in it and was answered highschool and college, but well i changed highschools in grade 10,11,and 12(went to 3 different highschools, one every year!)....and well when i tried to call and ask each of them now,the one in grade 10,and 11 i probably can't get to know what month i applied and what month i left -_- as one of them said they discard the files after 4 years and it's been 6 or 7..so they basically told me that school year noramlly starts on september, and ends on june and to calculate the year there then and write down those months!..so i don't know what to do..i probably can get the grade 12 one cause i graduaded from it,so should i do like they said, and calculate the years and write down the months that school normally starts at?or do i just write the grade 12 one only?would that be enough?or what?!..

Thanks for your help!

Don't worry so much! Being a military brat, I ended up going to multiple schools while traveling with my parents. Basically just put the last high school you graduated from and put the last year it was in. 08/?? - 06/?? That should work. Same thing with the college.

They are going to be looking at the bigger picture, not so much of where you went to high school and college.

Good luck with your journey and let me know if there is something I can help you with!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy CR1 Interview Is After Tomorrow

Good morning/evening everyone. First, I'm new in here, this is the first time for me to post after making up my mind to sign up, and I've been following with your updates and news since Jan 2010 when my husband and I started our "CRAZY" visa thing!. ha!
anyways, you guys post such great issues to discus and some great information. Thank you for helpful readings.
I'm Egyptian woman, married to my American man. 4 years amazing love story. I'm mother for 4 adorable children "previous marriage", 36 years old. My huband is 46 yeras old, he's getting along greatly with my babies. My mother in low, my husband's aunti and him were here to visit last May. It was unforgetable family time. We do not have any financial problems at all "my husband got wonderful job and I have great job in Egypt as well" we got married on Jan 19th 2010 and been through the process to get our interview which going to be finally after tomorrow. Now my questions are,

1- How much the DHL fees cost? I emailed the US embassy but they did not answer my question! My husband did paied all fees required on line to NVC, all applications mailed to them via Fedex "all our original copies". the only thing remais "unknown" is DHL fees.
2- My husband and I contacted NVC asking them about translating my "criminal paper" or whatever they call it they answered back that there's no need for such sinse US embassy has got CO whom really understad and can read Arabic language so there's no need for that, even more, when they sent us the appointment letter it did not mention anything about translating my criminal report.
3- My husband can not attend interview with me due to his work, does this affect on my interview?
4- I applied last year to visit with my man, we weren't married that time and I got REFUSED TWO times. Does this affect on my case now or not?? however, my appling last year was to same address of our home in USA, same names, same phone #... etc
5- Does working with Navy, Air Force, Army...etc affect somehow or considered to some point when review our application for this Visa?

Well, I won't go through what questions they might ask at time of interview, I think you did posted all questions that anyone may ask in the intire world LOL

6- My very curious question is, are there any other WOMEN in the same boat with me?? because all I read so far within last 7 months are experinces for Egyptian MEN married to US women but not vice versa!!!
7- Does it affect on our case when we wrote that my children are in my ex custody? because Egyptian law does not allow woman to keep the kids in her costedy after marriage second time!

Finally, thank you very much for taking time reading, your answers will be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful Friday

Congratulations and Welcome to VJ!
Even thought they are quite a few "Egyptian" men married to "American" women, there are a few egyptian wives with us husbands too!
I hope I can answer you the best that I can~~

(1 The DHL fee is 65 egyptian pounds for the delivery of your visa and passport back to you. That is the only cost you will have at your interview.

(2 We got everything translated because we had to send all to the NVC first of all and they send it to the embassy. If you have gotten in touch with the NVC and they said don't worry about it, then I wouldn't worry about it. For your own peace of mind, print out the email you got from the NVC stating that translation wasn't necessary for the embassy and carry it with you!

(3 No, your husband not being with you shouldn't affect your interview. I did attend my husband's interview because I was able to at the time, and the questions asked were directed to me, so my husband got lucky!!!!

(4 You being refused a visitor visa before your application for CR1 shouldn't affect your interview at all. Just be prepared for them to ask about it because the chances are they will ask! Have all your paperwork in order and the original certificate of divorce from your previous marriage AND also the original divorce certificate IF your husband was previously married too. THIS is a fact that they will ASK for it!

(5 I don't know if being in the military will help your case or not. I know that I had nothing to do with the military and it didn't matter in our case! I would think that it shouldn't matter about military at all. They will/ or had investigated BOTH you and your husbands background thoroughly!

(6 YES! There are a few women that I can think of off hand who are Egyptian with American husbands! and Yes, it is predominately Egyptian men with American women!

(7 You not having custody of your children from a previous marriage won't affect your application. Be prepared because they will ask you about what you are going to do about seeing your children.

Good luck with your upcoming interview!!! I am not too sure about women who are married to the US citizen getting AP/AR, but regardless be prepared and I know you will do fine!!!

Let us know how you interview goes and all you need to do is just ask if you have anymore questions!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230, confused

Guys,

I'm ready to send in the DS 230 along with all the required Paper work but I have a quick question.

Do I need to translate the Original Documents (B CERTIFICATE, Criminal records, Marriage certificate, ….) before sending it to the NVC?

I just got of the phone with NVC operator and she said " I don't need to translate it as long as its on the native language" ( all the documents in Arabic(Egypt), and the interview will be in Egypt which is our native country)

At the same time I read here on VJ that we need to send a translation along with every original document.

Your help is really appreciate it.

Thanks
Ossama

Hi Ossama and welcome to VJ.
I think you should definitely get the translations for all of the paperwork and send it in with the original documents. Even if it seems that they don't want the translations, the possibility of giving you a RFE just to delay your packet being sent to the Embassy is way more time consuming. Trust me on that one.
Good luck on your journey!

Wow I am really sorry about the RFE. They suck no matter when you get them!
Wow, the USCIS must have really slowed down if it took 5 months for you to get a RFE, or perhaps, because of the RFE it took them 5 months to notify you. Who knows.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRequest For Evidence Papers

Hello
My wife filed the I-130 in January 2010 and received the Request for evidence on August 3 2010
Here is what it includes

Posted Image

We have prepared all the required evidence and we are going to send all these information in on next monday
But USCIS wants my wife to send in full names, addresses, phone numbers of all her relatives living in the US, but she only has connection with a few of them but she knows all phone numbers and addresses for all her immediate relative, so does the USCIS require all relatives information or just immediate relatives ? and also i am thinking is it gonna take a long time for the USCIS to process these evidence and also i want to know what is the next step if all our evidence are complete and establish a bona fide marriage ?

Thank you

You sent in affidavits from her side of the family too? I don't know why they are asking for names/phone nos/address of her relatives.
I would send in her immediate family.
The affidavits that we sent in included one from my married daughter verifying that she knew about the relationship and of our marriage, and that is the only one I sent in as far as relatives went.
Is your wife originally from the US or is/was she an immigrant also?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHealth insurance
I had a problem with our insurance with my work too at first.

I called to inquire the same thing once I gotten married to my husband. They told me to wait until open enrollments since he was not in the US at the time. I did, they started to deduct the payments out of my paycheck the beginning of the year. For some reason they audited my insurance policy and found out that he was on my insurance but not in the US yet. So, long story short, I was reimbursed the payments that were deducted out and once he came into the US we had to send in the visa stamp with the date of entry on there and they reactivated his insurance from time of entrance.

He should definitely call his benefits department and talk to an actual supervisor. I had to go through several people before I got an answer.

I hope you get it straightened out soon!

Congratulations on getting a case complete!! Isn't it a wonderful feeling???
It took about 2 weeks before my husband and I got our interview email. Once you get the email with the interview date, you can look on DHL to watch for your packet sent out to Egypt. Search for some of the threads on how to do that.
The chances of getting an interview in October is very good! I want to say the end of October/beginning of November! So definitely start finessing your boss for time off!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 vISA returned back to USCIS - For Further Investigaton ?

Thanks again Loto for your kind words.

I will not give up the fight and fully intend on keeping my Congresswoman's office involved till the end. My husband English is not fluent and so of course this was a bit of the problem. But for the Embassy to say my husband did not even know my birthdate that is just a flat out lie! He first answered it in the Egyptian format but being in Egypt they should have accepted that. There were 2 other questions that were fully explainable but I am over that now. Right now, our objective is for USCIS to re-affirm our case & this time around I will fly to Egypt to be with him during the interview process.

I also want to say that I am not completely upset the Immigration proess because I am fully aware of the fraud that comes along with the sort of marriages where the couples meet online, marry suddenly, etc...But I did take a full year to get to know my now husband & took made sure both our families were accepting of our union before we proceeded. Our age difference I am sure raises a red flag, but GOD willing they will see that despite ethnicity, religious and language barriers true love can be found...I am of Mexican ancestry and my family are Immigrants to this country and because of this I am an open minded and sensitive to Immigration issues.

Again thanks for your words of support.

Lizz&Mohamed

Lizz~ I truly believe that it was because of your husband's lack of the english language. Only because my husband too has difficulty with the language. He can speak it fairly well, but being nervous and "under the spotlight", well he tends to makes mistakes too.
As far as the age differences go, we have over 10 years between us and that was not an issue of his visa interview.
I believe because I was there during the interview, the majority of the questions that were asked were directed to me. We were honest and straight forward with the answers, and luckily he got the visa exactly 8 days after his interview.
Stay strong and keep on them with your Congresswoman's help and you will prevail.
Good luck!

we will file the I-130 in 14/9/2010 and the interview with the immigration counsaler and my wife want back after a week from that interview and honest it will be hard on us if we stay long time as what i hear
we are in egypt
and she spend already the 6 months
if we talk with the counsaler about the position he will care or he will not care about it

Hello teresashaban~
Here is the website that should answer some of your questions about filing DCF at the embassy in Cairo
http://cairo.usembas...sular/iv003.htm

Ok, from what I understand, you are going to file the I-130 on 14/09/2010, so have you called and made the appointment for that day?

Petitioners should contact our call center at 0900-70600 to set up an appointment. Prior to the appointment, the petitioner must prepare the petition packet and assemble originals of all required documents. The petitioner should follow the directions on the I-130 form carefully to avoid delays. The petition will not be approved without the personal appearance of the petitioner, and the payment of the proper fees. Each I-130 petition should also be cleared by the National Visa Center.

After the I-130 petition is filed and cleared from the U.S., a packet of forms and instructions necessary for the visa interview will be mailed to the beneficiary. This is in addition to his/her assigned case number. The visa interview can be scheduled as soon the packet is returned completed to the Consular Section. It is important to note that the beneficiary should complete the application for the visa interview only if he or she wants to travel to the United States in the next six months.

I'm sorry but it kind of sounds like the possibility is there that you may not beable to travel to the US for up to 6 months.
I know that there are a few people here who have filed DCF at Cairo, they may beable to answer your questions better.
I hope all goes well for your visa journey!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSocial Security Number
Definitely make another appointment or go down to the SSA office.
That is what happened to my husband too. From what I understood, the SSA couldn't find my husband in the system because his POE was JFK. JFK gets back logged sending the paperwork to Homeland Security so it takes a little bit to get them in the system.
SSA can look them up just like how Darnell says. That is how they found my husband. SSA screwed up my husband's name on his card because of having multiple last names. The name on the SS card HAS to match the green card! Get it changed if needed or you will have big trouble when you try to get a ID or Driver's license!
Oh yeah, the lady at the SSA said that homeland security needs to change the name to match what is on his SS card, NOT! It's the other way around!!:bonk:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUsing Middle Names
It's true that names in Egypt can be quite long, but the best bet is to use the name that is typed on your Egyptian passport.
My husband's passport has his first name, middle name(father's name), and last name(grandfather) and last name(great grandfather). That is exactly what we put on ALL his paperwork.
When filling out paperwork online, we didn't really have any trouble fitting his names on the slots, if it was tight or couldn't get it, we would bypass that portion typed and print it out by hand.

The only trouble we had was once my husband got here, the social security office told us that they could fit his whole name on the card. So they only put his first, middle and last (end) name. Well it caused a huge problem because the Green card from homeland security had his whole name on there.

So another trip to the Social Security office to have a new card printed up, and yes they were able to fit the whole name on there.
Don't let them try to tell you that it won't fit on there because it will, even if it is 2 lines long!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresage difference

i would like to thanks everyone who answer me and raise my morale up its mean alot to me i do pray to everyone to get his soul-mate ( wife/husband )and i have a good prove my oldest brother younger more than his wife too but they are Egyptians and i have pics and e-mails and some stuff will help us

Shaaban you shouldn't have a problem with the interview. I am older than my husband too and I was lucky enough to beable to attend his interview at the embassy. They want to see how your relationship is, whether or not it is a real marriage. It is common in middle eastern for men to have older wives when they marry outside of their country. Take as many pictures that you can of you and your wife and also pictures of your wife with your family. They will question how your family feels about your wife and also do they accept her.
Good luck with your interview. I truly do not feel the age difference will be an issue for your interview.

Oh man I am so sorry to hear about the AP rose.gif i would have gotten their names and knowing me i would write a letter to the USEM,NVC,USCIS and anyone else who was involved in this process and let them know of your experience and how this affected your family its just sad that they can do things like this to people and get away with it mad.gif I have heard some harsh stories on here about the CO's and thats not fair someone should be responsible for ensuring that everyone receives just treatment at USEM good.gif I can understand if they feel the need to put you in AP thats fine but for them to grill you for 5 hours and then assume that you will not be able to support your wife is just not right, i don't know why they find the need to have people sit there for hours as if they are being held hostage its not right and no one should leave with a blue slip with no reason as to why you got the blue slip they are required to let you know in writing why they are placing you in AP..but everything will work out they kept your passport which is a good sign good.gif and GOOD overcomes all EVIL so don't let them get to you rose.gif rose.gif it will all work out for you good.gif

Best of luck to you and your wife kicking.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJoin wife for her Interview

Hey Guys,
My wifes interview is next week. Because of work I cannot travel and join her, but my question is

1. Will it be a PLUS sign if I join my wife during her interview? I found that consulate allows US citizen inside along with their spouses for the interview.

Looking for urgent advice.

The VAST MAJORITY of interviews happen without the fiance/spouse present. I would not think it is a + or a -. I think it does not matter ie. non-issue.

Good luck
