K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGot my interview but too far

It is very difficult obtaining information on my fiance's country, not too much found on visajourney and ones found are from long ago and current members didnt notice any post. Would you happen to know if this country is backlogged as well? They said adminstrative processing can take some time. Where can find out information on back logging?

Just can't understand am going to be waiting for another 4 months before my interview , just when I thought everything was going smoothly , but you never know just have to keep my fingers crossed and pray things goes well on that day.

You have to keep in mind, the consulate in Ghana is extremely backlogged. The biggest one in the world, as far as I know. Be grateful for it only being 4 months. They must have sped up as I remember it taking up to one YEAR to get an interview date!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNeed Help! - How does one get details of Travel into the USA and other countries visited??

Yep, I saw that... very helpful!
I think I'll also have to do the same thing for my work, because I mostly work short contracts, so there won't be nearly enough room to describe all the places I've worked in the last 10 years! (On the I-129F I just submitted an additional page with my resume on it)

That should work as well for your employment. Just list the most recent ones then include a paragraph. As the beneficiary, it should be fine. The US doesn't seem to care about your employment history (as long as it was nothing illegal or bad).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNeed Help! - How does one get details of Travel into the USA and other countries visited??

Wow! I didn't even realize that was a question on those forms... haha... I'm going to have trouble with that one too, since my parents have had a home in Florida since I was 8 years old! I've been going down at least 2-3 times a year since then. My only saving grace will be that I am constantly taking pictures, so I can probably figure out the dates from my photo folders... but definitely not going back 10 years!

Just look at the link I posted earlier. I had the same problem as you; I was visiting Florida at least once year for a few weeks since I was a baby! All you need to do is write down around the most recent 10 visits and just include a paragraph similar to mine on the additional sheet.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNeed Help! - How does one get details of Travel into the USA and other countries visited??

Saylin,

It looks like there are only 2 forms to fill out for the CR1-is that possible or am I misreading?

I was wondering if I could get married in a civilmarriage in the US when I'm down for a weekend and then return back to Canada and then start the process when we get the marriage certificate...do you think that'd cause problems? Right now I'm going down on I-94 forms every 2 weeks having to get a new one every time because I've had issues.

Posted Image There are definitely more than just two forms to fill out. For the I-130 petition, there's a G-325A that must be filled out by both parties, and then an I-130. At NVC, there's an AOS package which includes the I-864, filled out by the petitioner, and then the IV package, and coming from Canada, you fill out the DS-260, which is done online. So, four forms in total, with many documents as well.

And yes, you can do that. That's exactly what I did. I came to visit my husband in the summer of 2010 and got married in a courtroom with just his mom and grandmother there as witnesses. After my return to Canada and first denial, we filed the I-130 package.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNeed Help! - How does one get details of Travel into the USA and other countries visited??

Hi Saylin,

I am curious to know why it takes sooooooooo long to go the CR1 route? I would figure if you're already married that it would go quicker. Also, I've heard of people getting everything done within 4 months...is this even possible? Were you or your hubby able to travel to see each other even though you were already married and did this cause problems crossing the border?

MTLNB

Well, since there's a backlog at USCIS, it typically takes around 5 months to get an approval of the petition there. Then the NVC process takes awhile as you have to send in documents and pay fees. Then you have to wait for an interview. It takes awhile because there's multiple steps, with some being backlogged.

Getting everything done in 4 months without an expedite for an IR-1/CR-1 route is very rare. You'd have to get really lucky at USCIS and get a quick approval. Then you'd have to zoom through NVC and get a quick interview date.

I got denied twice at the border trying to visit my husband in the US, so I stopped trying after the second denial. From then on, my husband had to come visit me. He had problems the first time (was held in secondary for about an hour), but managed to get through to Canada. While I was in Canada for 9 months for this process, he came to visit me five times. Look at my timeline below in my signature for specifics. You're legally allowed to visit each other, but it will ALWAYS be up to the officer whether or not to let you through.

I'm wondering the same thing as I travelled a ton in the last 10 years.

My fiancee was studying her master degree in London in 2011, so I visited London like every 2-3 weeks.
Do I have to individually list all those trips? or can I just write 10 trips to London in 2011?

Thanks

List as many as you can remember. Then include a paragraph saying how long you've been visiting and how often for the other dates that you don't remember. Did you look at the link I posted in here earlier?

I found another form that was asking for travel in the past 10 years outside of home country...can't remember the form# anymore.

(I am getting way ahead of the process, but I want to know everything in advance) also, for the DS-230 for packet 3 is it true I only need to fill out part I? What about part II?

I wonder what form is that... But, I'm only familiar with IR-1/CR-1 forms, so...

For K-1 visas, I believe you only fill out part 1 and not part 2.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFile "Touches"

So, how do we keep up with our case now... snail mail???

Well, for K1 applicants, NVC is merely the middle man. They're going to receive your file, input a few data points in their system, then ship it off to the embassy. You'll need to call NVC if you want to get your case number. As for the embassy part, it's done by snail mail, so you'll be receiving and sending packages that way. But your embassy should have a number you can contact, or an email address if you have questions. If not, there's always DOS you can call up as they have access to your case.

Ok, another question.... although our case is now moving from USCIS to the Department of State, will text and email updates continue to follow our case? Again, thanks in advance.

No, that was just for USCIS to update you when they received it and for any case updates (approval, RFEs).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFile "Touches"

I've heard the term "touches" in relation to activity with files. July filer here, and our file hasn't been touched since the day after our NOA1. Is that unusual? Is there a flurry of activity right before adjudication? I've been very patient until we hit the six month mark and now I'm just a bundle of nerves (very out of character). It feels like our petition has fallen into a black hole somewhere. I'm interested to hear other couples' experiences. Was there activity with your files leading up to NOA2 or were you simply notified. Thanks for sharing your stories.

No touches is definitely not unusual. My case only had one "touch", the day after our NOA1 date. That was it. Nothing happened for nearly 5 months when I got my NOA2.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTracking case from NVC to Embassy

Yay!! Our case is now IN TRANSIT and en rout to the embassy! Woo Hoooo!!!

I just wanted to confirm that to track the case via DHL you do the following:

  1. go to www.dhl.com
  2. Click on "more tracking options" under the box to enter tracking #'s
  3. Click on "TRACK BY SHIPPER'S REFERENCE" located on the left side colum
  4. Enter the date it left the NVC as, for example mine left Oct 28, 2013 so it's entered as --->  EXP 28 OCT 2013A <--- with spaces and everything
  5. Select date range
  6. Select Country
  7. Click on Track

Is that it?! Our case was literally JUST listed as in transit so nothing is pulling up on the DHL site as of yet.  Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything or needing to call NVC and wait on the dreaded hold line foreverrrrrrrrrr again.  ;-)

Thanks for any help!

You actually use the day before it was shipped, so, in your case, on Friday, the 25th. Looks like your waybill number is 8792341051 and you can see it here: http://www.dhl.com/c...&countryCode=ht

Remember, there's no guarantee YOUR case is in there, but chances are good.

Middle East and North Africacase complete but no interview date yet

After NVC gets your case, it takes about a 7 days before they ship it to embassy. NVC does NOT set up interview. NVC gives you a new case #, then ships it to embassy. You will set up interview with the embassy, using the case # the NVC gave you. I hope this helps.

That is for K-1 visas only. The OP is not applying for a K-1 visa.

my case was completed & also sign failed month ago.
I have 2 question :
1) when NVC forward my case to casablanca embassy?
2) How log does it take for NVC to set up an interview date after case is complete ? f2a
note: my priority date 2009

thank you so much for your help

Since you're applying for an F2A visa, you have to wait until your priority date is current. Only then will you get an interview date scheduled by NVC and then the case will be forwarded to the embassy.

Middle East and North AfricaPOE

Hi,

Can anybody share with me the POE feels like I mean what will I face when i go there what kind of questions they will ask and how long until they send me the green card what about my SSC when i can get it Iam sorry iam asking too many questions but please people who been in this situation can you help???

Thanks

You can read my POE review here: http://www.visajourn...le.php?id=90397 [at the bottom]. You can also read other people's POE reviews here: http://www.visajourn.../poereviews.php With that link, you can select from the dropdown list the exact POE you're going through and seeing experiences at that POE. Mostly though, you have to hand over the sealed envelope from the consulate/embassy and you'll probably get asked a few questions, nothing too hard.

For the green card, it took 19 days to get mine after POE. Some people receive it within a few days, others a few weeks. Just remember, the stamp you'll get at POE can serve as a temporary green card for up to a year until you get the card in the mail.

For the SSN, again, it varies. Some people get it within a few days or a week or two. If 3 weeks pass from your POE and you still haven't received it, then that's when you go to a local SSA office and apply there. That's what I had to do. After 3 weeks from my POE, I still hadn't received it, so I went to a local SSA office and applied for my SSN. Ten days later, it arrived in the mail.

Middle East and North AfricaStill waiting for Case Number... :( :(

My petition was approved on 07/18/2011. The NVC office received my case on either, August 1st or 5th. I'm not sure which one it is since every time I call I get one of these dates. I called again tonight and they told me, "they recieved my case on August 5th and I should be receiving something in the next 4 weeks". FOUR WEEKS??? Is there anybody else out there that has been waiting for their case number this long??? Thank you!!!

You should be reading the NVC threads here. There's been a backlog at NVC for quite a few months now. Instead of taking a week or two to get a case number from NOA2, it's now taking 30+ days. Unfortunately, you're not the only one. All you can do is to continue calling each and every day and asking whether or not a case number has been assigned to your case yet.

Middle East and North Africatime in nvc

hi every one
how long the nvc take to close a case number and assigned an interview date, now it's more than 2 weeks since we sent our package and no response from them, I am so confused
thks

Once NVC receives your packages. it takes about a week or two for them to be reviewed. If no RFEs, then the case is closed.

And please fill in your timeline. I see you're posting in the MENA forum, and if you're from Egypt, you're going to be waiting 6 months for an interview date, as that's the average right now.

Middle East and North AfricaOnline filing Cairo Egypt? Me CONFUSED!

:help:So sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I was at the US Egypt Embassy website and read you can file online but it doesn't explain how. i presume they mean to download the form fill it out and send it via e-mail or am I wrong? Also not sure of the e-mail to send it to if there they have one. I sent the Embassy an e-mail asking them but all they did was send me the link I was at  which only confused me to begin with. I'm not usually this dense but I'm stressed just thinking of filing. I will be sending God willing the I-130 then they will send me I believe the CR-1. Can we file online or via e-mail for all the form or just the I-130. Also do we pay when we finally are at the interview? See I"m totally confused and they don't mention any of this at their site. Hope someone can help me out I'm so nervous I can't stand it.

1. How do we file online?

2. Can all forms be sent online for the Egyptian Embassy in Cairo?

3. Do we pay the fees at the time of the interview or online?

4. Are forms sent via e-mail?

5. What is the correct e-mail to send the forms to?
6. Someone shoot me NOW please, I can pay!:bonk::blink:

Thank you in advance for any help you can give this doofus before she sticks her foot in her mouth. Oops too late! :hehe:

Moved topic from Asia: South regional forum to the MENA regional forum as OP is from United Arab Emirates.

Hi,
i was checking out this http://travel.state..../info_3830.html and found this:
Many U.S. Embassies and Consulates have developed information and guidance that will assist you in collecting the documentation needed by the NVC. To determine if your embassy/consulate has developed any location-specific assistance:

Select the first three letters of your NVC case number from the following dropdown list.
Click on US Embassy/Consulate-specific information.

do i need to fill out that form? if yes where i need to send it:

And yes, it's other types of visas that have to schedule the interview with the embassy. But as you're an IR-1/CR-1 applicant, you don't need to worry about it as NVC does that part.

Middle East and North Africaour case is completed at the NVC but ... :(

hey guys,

well, i am the beneficiary from algeria, finally our case is completed at the NVC last week, and yesterday i got an email from NVC stating that we got an interview date, the email was attached with a PDF forma, the name of that form is: p4 for neopost ds-1200.pdf
the form says that i need to bring it with me to the Embassy at the interview date which it is scheduled for : May, 9th, 2013. so it would be withing 26 days from today.
my question is:
does 05/09/2013 is my date interview or i still need to call the embassy and schedule an interview date ?
because i have read many threads that the beneficiary calls the embassy or email them to schedule an interview date which is very hard to reach them :(
or since the NVC mentioned the date in that P4 forma means that is not nessesary to confirm with the embassy ?

thank you guys for your help

May 9th IS your interview date. There's no need to call the embassy to schedule an interview. For IR-1/CR-1s (in most countries) NVC is the one that schedules the interview. Like yours.

All you need to do now is get a medical done. (And of course show up for the interview)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChecklist letter from NVC says to write case number on all docs

This is a really stupid question, but since I don't want to mess up, I figured better to ask and be safe rather than sorry.

I received a checklist letter from the NVC re: sending the DS-230 forms to them. The letter says to "please include a copy of this letter with your correspondence and write your case number clearly (exactly as it appears below) on the upper right-hand corner of all documents."

I'm a bit perplexed, because some of these are certified copies - like the marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc., and I don't want to mess those up! Did any of you actually write the case number on the upper right hand corner of these docs?

Thanks!

If you don't want to write on the civil documents, I know of some people who used sticky notes instead. That way your documents aren't marked on.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions About NVC

Hello there Everyone, How is everyone doing? This is my first post and first of all I wanted to say Thank You for all the Hard Work that you guys do. I have looked through this website and I have found a lot of helpful information. But I wanted to To Talk to you and get your input on what to do Next. So please look over my information and let me know if I am doing good.

Current Status - I-130 (Pending) For Wife (India) and I am U.S. Citizen. I called the USCIS office and I was told that I should get a decision before April 24, 2011. I submitt ed the Form last Nov 24, 2010, so I guess it is a Five Month Process.

After reading the NVC Time Savers, I have started to get my other Paperwork Ready. Please let me know if I forgot something. Please look over my List:

1) Have sent DS-3032 and DS-230 to my Wife. Should I have my Wife Fill out Both of the Form and send them to me now?

2) Also Is there any other Form that my wife needs to fillout besides DS-3032 and DS-230?

3) And is the items listed below good for Supporting Documents from my wife?

a) 2 Passport-sized photographs of the beneficiary
b) Completed and signed form DS-230 Part 1 by the beneficiary
c) Completed and 'unsigned' form DS-230 Part 2 by the beneficiary
d) Photocopy of the biographic data page of the beneficiary's passport
e) Original/Certified birth certificate of the beneficiary
f) Original/Certified marriage certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner
g) Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary

Lol, I think for now this is enough for now. Please share your thoughts on these questions. I am pretty sure I will be asking you guys alot more questions. Thank U For All Your Help!

Josh

You wife doesn't need to fill out the DS-3032. She can email the DS-3032 by following this template: http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form

Yes, you can have your wife fill out the DS-230 now and send it to you, along with all the supporting documents. Remember to get a notarized translation of all documents not in English and include that as well as the original/certified copy. Also include a photocopy of all civil documents, so you can get your originals/certified copies back at the interview.

Besides the DS-3032 and DS-230, no your wife does not need to fill out any other forms.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresElectronic Processing Steps

Hi Saylin;

I received an email from NVC with following content

"All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.
The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.
The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview."

Does that mean our case has been approved at NVC ?
Have you received any such email or We received because We had an RFE?

Grats on getting to NVC! Make sure you have everything prepared and you can fly through NVC.

And thanks. I created that blog to document our journey and my intention was that it would help others.

Good luck on your journey!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresElectronic Processing Steps

Hi Saylin
I need an urgent help from you or any VJers with through similar experience.
Our case is currently at NVC and we are enrolled in Electronics Processing, recently I have scanned and sent all original DS 230 package documents, now we got RFE asking for ORIGINAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE, but our confusion is We have already sent the original one we got form Registrar office in Indian where our marriage took place.

Our marriage was performed by local priest, who issued a certificate, which is in our native language. We have certified translation of that certificate issued by registrar office, which I have sent already but We did not send the one issued by the local priest.

When NVC ask for Original Marriage Certificate, do they mean they need the one issued by Local Priest as well?
Any help from somebody with similar experience would be much helpful

Hmm, I'm not sure. I'd call an operator up asap on Monday. Explain what you sent in and ask what they want from you.

If you haven't looked yet, here's the page for India and their certificates: http://travel.state....1.html?cid=3582 Scroll down to Marriage Certificates. Make sure you have what's listed.

Definitely call an operator on Monday though.
