IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - October 2014

Ok so i need some ideas/help.

one of my friends ( a very close and special one), she got through her NVC phase about two weeks ago (with a case complete) and just have a date for interview in late november. She just found out her husband (a USC and the one who filed for AOS and made good money), lost his job yesterday (was laid off). he is looking for a new job and they are really stressed. What can they do under this predicament? Their case is already through NVC and an interview appointment date is set?..can they just go ahead with it or is their case lost? Any ideas?can they get a joint sponsor (her husband's brother) at this stage???

ANY ideas would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Even if he could find a job before the interview, being that he'd only be working there a few weeks, I'd say go with a joint sponsor regardless. Get all the paperwork done from the joint sponsor, and then have the petitioner re-do an I-864 for themselves as well (updating the employment section and current income). Then they just need to explain what happened at the document intake window and hand over all the new paperwork.

Anyone understand the process for an approved expedite?

My DS260 has been completed and submitted. Am I waiting to hear from NVC or should I be looking for communications from Montreal?  As usual, NVC rep was completely clueless!

Well, for most expedites, once it's approved, NVC closes the case and sends it to the embassy/consulate. Do you know if NVC has sent it already? If they have, I'd contact Montreal, explain what happened, provide your case number and such, and ask them what you need to do now and if an interview date has been assigned.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - October 2014

Long story short...my 2013 taxes had to be amended due to a mistake by my accountant.  We sent in the 1040x last week.  It is not a "big deal" in that it doesn't change the amount of tax owed or anything, but could have sent up a red flag at NVC.  So now I find out it will be 12 WEEKS until I can get a new tax transcript- according to IRS timeline.  This puts our case back 3 months before I can even send in the AOS packet...all other docs are in place. I know the "highly recommended" option is to include 3 years of official tax transcripts...but does anyone have any other suggestions besides putting this whole process back 3 months. Like- could my accountant write a letter, or could I include a "copy" of my 2013 taxes? I can't believe this...

Although NVC prefers tax transcripts, it's not the only accepted documentation. You can still alternatively send copies of the ENTIRE tax return (1040, W2s, 1099s, schedules, worksheets, etc), and in your case the 1040X as well.

Bonus, she has a frequently sick two year old, so she pretty much doesn't get to sleep anymore. Black Friday shopping is a good thing to avoid IMO, but that might be my fear of Boston crowds talking, haha. Online deals are where it's at! I get the day off but my big plans involve leftover pie for breakfast :D

Oh my...  :blink:

Yeah, I'm guessing Boston is a little crazier than my old town of 20k people. Although, I'm in Fargo this year, so I'm thinking it'd be a little crazier. I might have to check it out, depending what time it starts this year! And oh yes, Cyber Monday (or week as it's turning out to be).

One of my best friends works 4am shifts at Target every week. She claims to thrive off the Black Friday stress, but... yeesh. It's probably just the fight or flight survival instinct kicking in -_-

Oh good lord, I would have never been able to do 4am shifts consistently. And I absolutely HATED worked Black Friday. Even at my little store, it was way too crazy. I can't even imagine in bigger cities.

I am definitely going to relish sleeping in till ~6:45am this year and going to work at 8am. Heck, maybe I'll even get to do some Black Friday shopping the night before!! I've never done Black Friday shopping before!!

hey saylin

my IV Package is approved.

i got checklist for my AOS of my joint sponsor.

they told there is mistake in my joint sponsors i864 thats why they want it again the mistake they told me is in part 5 number 1 n number .

so what you suggest i go for supervisor n request him or send it n again wait for 60 days..

'please help me.

You made a mistake, so you received a penalty. A supervisor won't help with that as it's your own fault. Just fix the mistake and re-send the paperwork.

unofficially 4... who really 'works' on the day after thanksgiving anyways?! they're all out shopping the black friday deals :P

Not all of us have that luxury :P Since I moved here in 2011, I've always worked Black Friday, this year included. At least it won't be at 4 in the morning though with this new job I got earlier this year, phew! (My last job was at Target. SCARY place on Black Friday!!)

Alright, sat down and updated the spreadsheets! :dance:

I'll probably wait until right before my trip to Canada next Wednesday before I update again as I will (hopefully) be busy the next few days with things. And hopefully within a few weeks, once my personal life has settled, I'll be able to go back to regularly (re: daily) updating the spreadsheet  :yes:

Edit: weeeird, it posted twice even though I only hit the button once  :bonk:

If you look at the response sheet, you'll realize you're not the only one still waiting. I've been extremely busy this week and will continue to be for the next week or two. My personal loan application got denied, so I'm trying to figure out exactly how I'm going to afford some stuff, and I've been stressing about what's going on in my personal life, so when I get home I have no desire to do much. Sorry. I'll try to get around to updating the spreadsheet when I can, but it might be awhile :(

QUESTION! We'll send the package soon, where to send it? ATTN:DR or ATTN:CMR or it doesn't matter?
Please advise. Thanks!

Use what's on the respective cover sheet.

Lucky you bro.
Can some one please tell me what is packet 4 ? And do i recieve it or my consulate ?

Packet 4 is the interview letter. You get that from NVC once an interview date has been assigned. Typically delayed by a few days from when the interview date is actually assigned.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - October 2014

Welcome to another monthly thread for those going through NVC!

This thread is strictly for questions and progress. If you want to rant about this ridiculous process, please do so in this side thread here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before posting questions, please read the wiki I wrote on the NVC process here. Once you're done, read it one or two more times to really understand it ;) Don't forget to also read the official form instructions as well as USCIS and NVC's websites!
For up to date time frames, you can view my spreadsheet here. If you would like to be added (or have your entry updated), then please fill out the request form here (please read the instructions at the top carefully, especially the update part as people aren't filling the form out correctly [they're filling out information not needed]). And before submitting the form, please make sure the consulate on your timeline isn't the default Armenia. I will NOT add/update you if it is. Also make sure your timeline is completely filled out up to the point where you are.
If you want to see a visual of the NVC process, please view my flowchart here.
I will be much less active in answering posts in these monthly threads, so don't bother asking me questions directly and please don't send me PMs with questions. If you send me a PM with a question that can be posted here, I will NOT reply. Just post them here for everyone to see and someone will come along to answer. Remember to be patient (re: just post once and wait)  ;)
And if for whatever reason, you can't find the answer, try searching both on this website and on Google. It's amazing what you can find if you search ;)
If you're wondering about time frames, I've got a spreadsheet available for a reason ;) And if that doesn't help, look at the fellow members right here in this thread! Study their signatures/timelines and make notes. VJ also has this awesome page. Use it! I sure did during my process :)
And once you've got a case complete, please join Dwheels's case complete/interview thread (currently November), here.
New spreadsheet layout!! Please, please read this paragraph carefully before filling out the new request form. Do NOT fill it out if you do not plan on staying on top of your case. Some of the dates require you to call NVC and find things out as soon as possible. If you are not going to do this, do NOT bother to fill my form out. This spreadsheet isn't for those that just want to get on my spreadsheet. It's for those that want to help in calculating average time frames for each step. This includes having the correct consulate listed in your timeline (not Armenia!) and having your timeline completely up to date. I'll still keep the "lighter" version available until the end of the year (or sooner, depending how things go), which you can find the request form for that above. Also, please take the time to fill out my form carefully. Pretend it's one of the immigration forms :P Because this time around, I will be issuing my own sort of checklist to people who incorrectly fill my form out. Trust me, you don't want to get one  :no: So, to summarize, only fill out the new request form if you're serious. All others need not apply. This new spreadsheet layout can still be found on the same link as the old one, it's just the second tab on the bottom, labelled 'New 2014'. If you are on the old layout (whether you have a case complete or not), you can still transfer to the new one if you wish. Just fill out the request form and choose 'Add'. I'll happily switch you over. Just make sure to fill out all the new dates! The link to my new request form can be found here.
The I-864 that i filled out has an expiration date on the top right hand corner saying it expires 10/31/10. Can it still be used? i dont think the uscis website has anything more recent than that date.
Yes, it can still be used. Until they release a new, updated form, you don't have a choice but to use it.
PhilippinesHow long for Green Card and SS Card
How long after your spouce's POE does it take for her to recieve her green card and SS card in the mail?
Thanks,
Tony
Getting the green card varies by which POE you go through. Some people get their green card within a week, others a few weeks, others even longer. Myself, it took 19 days.
For the SSN, it varies as well. But keep in mind, if it's been longer than 3 weeks after POE, and you've not gotten the SSN in the mail, it's time to go to a local SSA office to apply. This is what I had to do since I didn't receive anything after 3 weeks. After I applied, I got my SSN in the mail 10 days later.
PhilippinesPassport Photos
www.epassportphoto.com is the way to go. It's free. You will get 4-6 photos on a single 4x6in print (10x15cm).
I've used it many times for passport size photos. Never had a problem with my photos.
That's why I used that site. Instead of spending $15 at a professional place to get 2, I was able to get as many as I needed (7) for free!
PhilippinesPassport Photos
My wife and I are about to send in our Report of marriage. It is requiring 4 each size 1.77"x1.37" photos.I have been doing photography for many years and printing my own photos. I use a above average camera and printer and hihg quality photo paper. Can I do our own photos rather than paying for "passport"photos ?Same question on amending my wife's passport.I hope this doedn't sound like i'm trying to be cheap;I just do't see the sence in paying for something we can do ourselves.
You can use this site: http://www.epassportphoto.com/ Then choose Philippines from the drop down menu. You upload a photo you took, then a cropping tool will appear with the country's specifications. You center the cropping tool properly, and the site will do the rest. It will produce a 4" x 6" picture with 5 of the photos, all cropped.
This is the site I used for NVC, medical, and interview. Never had a problem.
Just make sure you follow any photo requirements for where you're sending in the photos, like background color and stuff.
When I moved here last year on a CR-1 visa in May, I wanted to go back to school for the fall semester. I applied for financial aid using FAFSA and got ~$10k worth of student loans. Had zero problems.
PhilippinesCase still at NVC, but would like to get Medical done when I arrive in Manila
Great, thanks for some good news. I was really worried about not being able to get our medical done while we were in Manila because of the delays at NVC, but if we can get it done, that will really help out a lot.
Is it possible to schedule (manually) or to request the interview to be scheduled as per Wally's comments? If so, how can I try to schedule her interview towards the end of my stay there (end of may)???
thanks,
I'm not sure if scheduling your own interviews for IR-1/CR-1 cases is possible for the Philippines. I'd suggest you look in the Philippines sub-forum.
PhilippinesCase still at NVC, but would like to get Medical done when I arrive in Manila
Our package is still at NVC, and I am traveling to the Philippines on the 14th. My wife will be arriving in Manila to meet me. We would like to get her medical done at that time because we live in Mindanao and it is very expensive to travel to/from Surigao to Manila again.
Is it possible to get her medical completed with out having completed the NVC portion yet? What if we have the NVC case number? would that be sufficient to allow us to get the medical completed?
If anyone has had previous experience in being able to get their medical completed early, I would be most appreciative if you could chime in and provide me with the necessary details so I can thread this needle while we are already in Manila.
Thanks in advance.
Don
For the Philippines, you're eligible to do an advance medical. Most countries have to wait until they have the interview letter before getting a medical done. But that's not that case for the Philippines. As long as you have the email from NVC stating your case number, you're allowed to do the medical, before having an interview date assigned. I believe this is due to the sputum tests that are done there, which if treatment is needed, can take 6 months.
PhilippinesDoes your hubby snores a lot ???
Fyi,
Good solution but it is "prettty"(say it pronouncing the T) danger to sleep with ear plugs.
Why?
SaylinFemaleCanada2012-04-03 13:01:00
PhilippinesDoes your hubby snores a lot ???
Although my husband doesn't snore, he does breathe heavy and as I'm a very light sleeper, this keeps me up. I found a solution long ago: ear plugs. Once I have those babies in my ear, I barely hear anything. And as I have a hard time falling asleep as well, I take 3mg of Melatonin each night. So I don't hear much anymore at night and fall asleep relatively quickly.
Now, that might not be the best solutions for your case as you have a baby to be aware of. Something you might want your husband to try: Breathe-Right strips. They're these little strips you put on the snorer's nose which opens up the nasal passage making it easier for them to breathe. My husband has used these in the past and have worked.
PhilippinesMedical exam Question
You can't do it before the NOA2. You need to get the MNL # from NVC after receiving your NOA2. Once you have the MNL #, have your fiancee pay the VISA fee and then schedule the interview. When you schedule the interview, then ou should get a generated e-mail from the Embassy for the appointmet to the e-mail address you provided while scheduling the interview. In the event that you don't get the generated e-mail. If she doesn't have the e-mail from the Embassym then if ou have a copy of the letter from the NVC assigning the MNL number, along with her VISA and other requirement needed for Saint Lukes, then she should also be okay to gain entry into Saint Lukes for her medical exam. See link below. I will schedule my fiancee's online after she pays her VISA fee and scans/sends me her receipt. Having a photocopy of her passport will also help in setting up the online appointment. You can call for the interview appointment and they will ask you petitioner/beneficiary information, MNL #, etc.... Once you get your date and the letter, then I would have your fiancee do the Saint Lukes medical at least one week before the interview date. Biometrics such as finger printing your finacee are done when she goes for the interview at the Embassy.
http://www.slec.ph/u...l#required-docs
http://www.slec.ph/us/registration/
:thumbs:
Yup.... need to have the MNL # and get your interview scheduled, you can print the confirmation page from scheduling online for St. Luke's also. But St. Luke's will ask for confirmation of the interview at the embassy.
For the two above posters, the OP is applying for an IR-1/CR-1 visa, not a K-1 like yourselves. It's a completely different process. Before answering questions, make sure you're answering in relation to the OP's visa.
Hi VJ, :) I would want to ask when should we do the Medical Exam. Is it before or after we receive the NOA2? :blush: When do we get the instructions regarding bio-metrics and medical exams. Thanks.
Bem
You have to wait until you get the first letter from NVC with your case number on it. Then you can get your medical done at St Luke's.
You don't receive instructions on this. NVC never sends instructions about the medical. You can get it yourself here: http://travel.state..../info_3739.html (Choose Philippines from the drop-down).
Hello I need an advice can i go on with applying for Medical examination schedule online even if i dont have the schedule yet from NVC. . what they are asking is a copy of NOA 2 and the copy of the case number from NVC . . so we can have the medical examination. . . thanks and happy visa journey to all. .
Yes, for those in the Philippines, you can do an advance medicals. This means that you don't need to wait for an interview date to be scheduled. As long as you have the first correspondence NVC sent (containing the beneficiary's name and case number), then you can schedule an appointment.
PhilippinesIV FEE?
any fees needed to be paid before interview @ USEM? from what I understand we have already paid for it during the NVC stage which is the IV bill am I correct? please enlighten me on these thanks mucho! :D
The last fees IR-1/CR-1 visa applicants pay is the AOS ($88) and IV ($230) at NVC.
Note: There MAY be a courier fee you need to pay, but this differs by country. For Canada, for example, we have to sign up for courier service, but it's free. I don't know about the Philippines.
PhilippinesMaking Medical Appointment / Appointment Letter?
Hello All, just looking at the requirements for taking the Medical Exam at St. Lukes. The requirements seem pretty light. There is a reference to an appointment letter and an instruction letter from NVC.
How and when are these given out?
Heres a copy and paste from the St. Lukes website
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Regular Immigrants and K-Visa Applicants
Valid passport
Photocopy of Passport Biographic/Data Page, the page in the passport that contains the applicant's photo and information
3 pieces recent 2x2 visa photos (2 for submission to the U.S. Embassy, 1 for clinic file)
The US Embassy requires you to bring the 2x2 photos for your visa issuance. We regret not to release the medical report until such time that you can provide this requirement.
Appointment letter from the Embassy or Instruction letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), if available,
2 photocopies of your Appointment Letter/ Instruction Letter
Applicants are also required to provide the name, address and contact number of their petitioner in the U.S.A.
For the Philippines, you can do an advance medical before an interview date is scheduled. So, instead of having the interview letter, you can just bring the first letter you get from NVC, which contains your case number (they call it the instruction letter).
PhilippinesChoice of Agent form
My mom scanned the letter after signing it. She then emailed it to me. I forwarded it to NVC afterwards.
When emailing the DS-3032 (if you follow the wiki), there is NO need to print it, NO need to sign it, NO need to scan it, NO need to attach it. A simple email suffices as is evident with many, many members here.
The NVC's instruction specifically says to (snail) MAIL it. Won't she encounter any issues if she sends it via email? :unsure:
Nope. Look at this site and you'll find that most members here email the form without issues.
PhilippinesChoice of Agent form
Hi! I'm asking in behalf of a friend.
She received the Choice of Agent (COA) form from NVC via email.
Can she print it out, sign it, scan it, email it to her husband, husband prints it out and send it via USPS (priority mail) to NVC?
We both think the above process would be the faster and cheaper way of sending the COA to NVC rather than mailing it via UPS/2GO/FedEx/LBC from Manila to New Hampshire.
Thanks in advance.
The DS-3032 can be emailed. Follow the wiki here: http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportstracking from NVC to GUZ consulate?
I was wondering if anyone was having any luck on trying the DHL trick? I tried using the following references: "CORRESPONDENCE" , the EXP DAY MONTH YEAR(A or B) as well as the " EXPEDITE IV SECTION" listed in the .txt file posted on this site, but still coming up with " no shipment found" ... I had called NVC and was informed that it was mailed around July 6th.
Can someone please assist me with that tracking feature? Maybe I am typing something wrong or maybe since I am still in China, it's not working right?
Thanks!
If you take a look at http://www.visajourn...nvc-to-embassy/, they suggest using the day before the case leaves as the reference number. So, using ref EXP 05 JUL 2011A, I found one package going to China. The tracking number is 8869515406.
I was wondering, can I book my medical exam in Toronto before even grabbing an interview date. Or this is not allowed? I just want to be completed ready just in case I can get an early interview day... :(
As far as I know, in Canada, you need to have the interview letter to have the medical. What I'd suggest doing is calling the medical place and asking if it's absolutely mandatory for you to have your interview letter. That'll be your best bet at getting an answer to your question.
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUSCIS processing of applications in unfair
Some people's documents are easier to verify than others. It's easier to verify information from the UK than to verify information from Vietnam. It's easier to verify information when it would be a first marriage for both fiancees than it would be for people with prior marriages. It's easier to verify the information when a couple send in exactly what is asked for than for a couple who may have sent in something else.
For example, John and Mary files first and it's hard to verify their information. Dave and Beth file much later and their information is easy to verify. As soon as their information are verified, they can be approved. It's not unfair for Dave and Beth to have their case approved before John and Mary's when Dave and Beth's information have been verified while John and Mary's information is still being verified.
Verification isn't the only reason. I was from Canada, it was both our first marriage, no children, we only sent in what was required. I waited 145 days to get my NOA2.
It's more of whose desk your petition landed on. If your petition landed on a desk whose officer reviews petitions quickly, grats. If your petition landed on someone's desk who reviews petitions much more slowly, well, too bad, you really can't do anything.
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow To track DHL?
I have tried tracking our case NVC said it left for London on Thursday the 5th of January. In the reference area I put EXP 4 JAN 2012 , EXP 4 JAN 2012A and even changed the date to 3,4,5. It returned no results. Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Yeah, sometimes it takes a day or two for results to show.
It worked today! :)
Glad it worked today :)
