Waagwan yaardies! The hubby and I will be in Negril in 2 weeks...I've never been...he hasn't been in a couple of years...anybody got any suggestions as to any activities or places to see while there?

I love Rick's Cafe and there's fish place let me see if I can find the name....I don't do much I Negril...when I want to get away that's where I go...it's quiet...to tell you the truth, I've met more people from other countries in Negril than any other tourist spots in Jamaica...good food, good drinks and great conversations

Tre, do you know how to you the text message to digicel on your computer? I would love to be able to send text via computer rather than cell phone.

Also I found my wedding dress at Davidson Bridal, but I had them to cut it off at the top of my kness, because I was getting married in Jamaica and I wanted to show my leggs. AS they say, if you have assest show them. He loved the the dress. At first everyone was like why don't you want a long white dress, I was like, I wanted him to see everything he was getting on his wedding day. My dress was a very pale yellow and fit evey curve I had, It was beautiful. Our wedding day was so much fun. We both teased each other on our wedding day about what we both was bringing to the table as far as our assest. When the preacher said does anyone object to this marriage we both looked out of the church door. Everyone was laughing. I play it over in my mind everyday, so I don't get so lonely without him. AT times like this I want to shout from the mountain top " I love my Jamaica Husband"

I send text messages all the time to Louis through the digicel website. I go to www.digicelstlucia.com so I assume you would just go to www.digiceljamaica.com?? I also had a digicel phone so I still use that one to log in. I would register your man's cell # and send texts that way. It would be like he was getting a text from himself but hey - it works! :-) I think they allow you 30 texts a month or something like that.

Ok I just went to www.digiceljamaica.com and there is an option right on the home page that says "send a text from your PC". Register with his number and go ahead!

Hope that helps.

Cat

Cat, thank you so much you are a life saver. I like that fact that I can send text straight from my computer since I am on it all day long. I will try it out now.

Thanks

Okay...VENT TIME AGAIN...why are people messing with me this week.

First it was the ***ch mother of the bride at the wedding I was in over the weekend

then; Nissan didn't want to cancel my service contract since I sold my truck (resolved that)...I just went up there with my hair half in braids and half undone. Took all of 20mins to get a check. Most of the time spent verifying paperwork.

now; I go into David's Bridal to try on my $99 wedding dress as I'm waiting for the lady to come back with my dresses this other consultant says to me (I was standing in the sizes for 0-6)...says to me "OH NOOOOOO YOU BIG GIRL...COME THIS WAY...U REALLY BIG GIRL nothing can fit you here"....not that she was lying and I'm sure she met wll, but come on now...the store was packed and she was so damn LOUD. June is a popular month to get married in D.C.

Tre, does your SO (to be) know that every day with you will be an adventure?

Roxcie

Roxie;

That's what he loves about me. I'm a lively person, but I hate when people mess with me, so I have to mess with them too. I know the people at the Nissan dealership must have thought I was a MAD woman, but I got my contract canceled and a check in my hand for $1500...I was told it could and would not happen....WHATEVER THE HELL.

Tre, Girl I tryly understand. My husband is mumbling right now...that crazy woman in USA. I am like a fire cracker, one moment I explode, then the next I am the most soft spoken person ....telling someone off, they don't even realized I have done it. He always say to me, you good? Told him I learned it from the best. I had to be this way in order to make it in the contract negotiating world. Sometimes I feel sorry for him, when he doesn't realize I have just done it to him. I don't argue... I just make my statement . Tired, sorry for the bad grammar.

Hello

I just wanted to say hi and to share this info that I found on travel zoo today and it is also on the American Airlines Website:

No matter where you live, it's worth getting yourself down to Ft. Lauderdale to take advantage of this deal! American Airlines just announced new non-stop service to Kingston, Jamaica from Ft. Lauderdale. To celebrate, they're offering an unbelievable $59 each way intro special. That's one of the best fares we've ever seen on this route!

New service begins on June 1 and is valid for travel all the way through December 18. Just be sure to book by June 15.

Travelzoo Tip: The $59 special is widely available right now, even over holidays like July 4th, but we expect seats to go fast and recommend booking early.

Click here for full details and to book on AA.com. Use airport codes FLL (Ft. Lauderdale) and KIN (Kingston, Jamaica).

The taxes and fees are around $90 additional for a roundtrip ticket.

Thanks , US Airways to cut free snacks on domestic routes

There goes the free food, I predict next the price of the airline ticket, will be based on how much you weight.

Paying for luggage,
No more free food
No more free cutomer service
If you speak to someone on the phone, you will be pay based on the number of words that are spoken
No more overhead luggage.
Extra for window seats
Extra for aisle seats I wonder what happens when everyone wants a middle seat?
No more pillows, covers
Pay to use the bathroom
Pay for movies, music (earphones)
Airline Stewarts must be tipped
Pay to change flight time/date

Please feel free to add to this list if you think I have miss something

Roxcie

tell me about it, i just had to pay for luggage for someone to come from jamaica on spirit because it was cheaper if it was done over the internet before the flight, i paid for the luggage and they still charged the person when they went to the airport and then of course this spirit, so they had to conect thru Fort Lauderdale and spirit tried charging them again!! I guess the charge was for the "next segment" of the flight. What a rip off!!

Number One Rule for Spirit Airline.... Never Have any Luggage
Number Two Rule...........Only fly dosmetic
Number Three Rule..... If flying out of Jamaica, they only have one flight time
Number Four Rule...... they only have four seats at the cheap advertised rate
Number Five Rule,,,, You can only get the rate on one leg of the flight, either going or coming back, never on both
Number six Rule, if you get a $9.00 flight the computer locks up, so when you finally get thru the flight is no longer available.

Please feel free to add.

Kimmy ---

OMG I hated that so much. My thing was the vomiting. I don't know why they called it morning sickness mine was all day long. I was always hungry. I'm just thankful that my son was able to get to 6 pounds when I had him. I only gained 3. All I had to do was smell something that wasn't right. I used to love Irish Spring soap before I got pregnant, but if I smelled it...it was all over for me.

How do you know when you're a mom, when you're covered in vomit fom your face to your waist. Thanks to my son. That was how I spent memorial day.

Kimmy, try Ice chips, this will keep the mouth and throat wet. You won't have the need to spit so much.

ICE CHIPS, Watermellon and strawberries. ALL DAY LONG.

Men's cologne made me vomit.

Shopping cured all of it. That's what I told my EX. I told him pregnancy was a handicapp, so I needed to shop. Shop till I dropped, best dress pregnant woman in the whole office building. I remember my Ex asking me How long do you plan on being pregnant.

Tre, I have a good friend who produces a cable talk show on male and female issues. I will give her your name, some of the panels that I have particated on have been very interested. We just did one on sex toys. Why females have sex toys, it was soooooo good. The guys asked the questions and the females were the panelist. Some of our topics have been , Do females or males have more extra martial affairs. If a female has an affair is the relationship really over. Do size matters. Oral sex, do's and don't. The list goes on. If you are intrested let me know. Tre, she is located in Columbia, Maryland.

The panel genrally consite of a wide range in age group from 18 to 60.

Lawny,

the food was served to different tables or it was buffet?? It wasn't her wedding so the mother-in-law should have sat down.

JENGS;

It got bad from the rehersal Friday night when she made a comment about my hair being braided and my girlfriend the groom's sister whose hair is (auburn)...looks really nice. She had a problem with that. Food was buffet style, but someone was on the other side serving as you walked buy and explaing what the food was at both tables. A lot of people came up from Jamaica for the wedding. Her mother is a trip and she knew it, but she just didn't know what else to say. Her mom was so loud and embrassing about the cake cutting. I was embrassed for the bride and my friend...very embrassed. The other out-of-town guest were also embrassed. I was like ####### is the big deal. If people don't want to eat they don't have to, but they did.......and to think I have to see her again

Man dat is mad behavior. Was she sipping on something before, during, and after?

Wakey

Heck no;

She was not sipping on nothing...she is just a damn mad rass...and don't let me get started on the music...that was when I left....enough was enough.

I'm worried that's how our ceremony will be. Mom is not really saying anything bad she just gets real quiet whenever I mention plans. I think she is still hoping and praying that I'm just going through something. NOT

offtopic45vn.gif I was listening to a talk radio show and they were discussing Male and Female roles in a successful romantic relationship.

A Jamaican woman came on and said that the reason our relationships don’t last is because woman try to be equal to the man in the relationship. She said that woman could be respected but never considered equal to a man. She gave examples of what she meant by saying we “women” should never pass gas around a man, never let him know when you have a monthly, or never let him know when you go to “doodie” etc. She said all Jamaican women are taught this and that why their relationships last.

What are your thoughts?

Wakey

HAAAAAAAAAAA....Makes me wonder....mi no care...mi do wah mi afi do...but my grandmother taught me the same things...but as my "jack of all trade" (been married for 50 years) auntie would say "WHAT A BUNCH OF RUBBISH"

Please tell how will he not know you are having your monthly. Do they not sleep in the same bed.

Ok ladies, here I am again with one of those questions that make you go "huh?" huh.gif I am at work and my patients are sleeping so here goes my wondering mind again. lol

Have you ever discussed your past relationships in detail with your SO and has your SO been curious enough to get detail info about your past? I know some people go into specific detail about everything that happened in their past and to me that tends to be a little tricky.

I told my ex-husband about an incident that happened to me in high school that I never told anyone else and it was used against me in ways you cannot even imagine when I least expected it. Until this day I am in shock about what he did but life goes on and I have dealt with it.

Mike has never questioned me about my past and I tell him what I choose to and what is significant for him to know. I feel that if it does not directly affect our current relationship, it is not necessary for him to know.

Your thoughts????? whistling.gif

Claire, your past is what it is, the past. The past is for you to learn from not for other to critiique. I beleive my past is only to be shared if it is going to have some affect or impact on my future.

Roxcie

Hey Roxie;

I believe that too. Marcel only wanted to know about my ex (my son's father), since that will be his stepson. I told him everything he wanted to know. He's never asked about anything else. My friend told me when her fiance came up in Janaury...she had to get rid of all her old furniture, bed and coach and I was like (maybe the bed), but why the coach (he didn't want to lay his head where another man's head had been)...my hands in the air. She had to change her home and cell numbers, refused to drive in the car (after he found out it was her ex's car) given to her at the divorce settlement. To me these are petty things. The list goes on. They're now in counseling. I mean, 'ish...it's bad enough you have to deal with the emotional rollercoaster with all the immigration mess and with them adjusting. Thank God I'm blessed. So, far so, good.

Good morning to you Tre,

The signs were there we choose to ignore them. I'm sorry to hear that they are now at this stage of their relationship. Relationships are to be a work in progress. Every day a hurtle is placed in front of you by outside forces. Why do we throw our own road blocks when society already has that responsibility.

I took chocolate amber and cucumber melon, by the end of the week, D was using more of my shower gel than i was and he liked the loofah thingy. I was thinking about getting him some cute boxers, the cheesy kind with the lips on them, maybe...LOL, and maybe a pair of my unmentionables blush.gif im not really sure, i just want it to be a surprise, which will be difficult for me, cause when it comes to him i cant hold water...LOL... i may send him something in the mail, like a cd or a card, but the mail is so slow i usually wind up telling him before it arrives...LOL

Whatever you send will be special. I send card, small notes, text messags, small things I find in the stores. I like to laugh with my husband, so he never knows what I might be sending. I even send a box of vegetable seeds one time, he was like what was he suppose to do with them. I said plant a container garden. That went over like a belly flop, but his neighbor loved the seeds, so she planted a garden and now she gives him vegetables from out of it. When I was there at the beginning of the month, she requsted more seeds from me. I always like doing the un expected thing. It keeps him on his toes.

Im thinking about sending D a care package, of some sort, just because i need something to keep myself occupied. My oldest son is working a summer job, my youngest is on vacay with the grands, my best friend is on military leave and my other friend is on one of her ongoing every week crisises. I thought maybe putting together a cute little care package would be my next project, as i have never sent one to him. Anyone have any suggestions....LOL

Now if i was to send a care package it would be panties and teners(boxers), my bath oil or soap and my favorite perfume. Again this would be the way I roll. Remember ME. whistling.gif

I can understand the spoken word but have a really hard time with it written.

JG -- you've always done well understanding what's written.

Too much written patois gives JG a headache... yes.gif

Honey...your comprehension of patois will come in time!! Jawi876 wrote a wonderful story called "My name is Not Stella" it is written primarily in patois. Its posted on here..if you haven't already you should read it...it definately helped others.

You will get it...give it time! luv.gif

P.S.- I love hearing Ken's accent when he is tipsy or 'Red' and em start chat some ish!! Its all slurry and rude! rofl.gif ohmy.gif laughing.gif

Now this is what I asked my husband, how come when you speak Patois, your voice chnage to a higher pitch. He start laughing and said No I don't know. Then he proceeds to speak using his British accent. When he is angry it's his Jamaican accent.

You know what it does to me though.

You all ready for Wednesday, Tre?

Yes, I'm ready now. I love my dress it's cream and I can wear it anywhere. It's beautiful, doesn't look like a wedding dress at all and the funny thing is it was 2 guys that was at the shop that suggested it. I didn't want a dress. Skirt, blouse and flipflops would have done me fine...but my sister and friends were tripping so I went to David's bridal $99 sale..dress ending up being $79 it was originally $1100 ( I was like WHAT)...that looks like a nightgown, just a little thicker. The dress was from 2 summers ago, old style and discountinued. Now, all I need is some heels, since my so is 6'5...I still thinking about the flip flops. devil.gif

I was barefoot.

Your dress sounds lovely. I can't wait to see pictures of that beautiful smiling face! His too!!!!!!

You know what's funny a MAJORITY of Jamaicans do not know how to write in PATWAH and I find that hysterical. I wrote a note to my fiance and he told me it was gibberish.

I've heard and read Patois in so many different ways. Even the books that are written to teach you how to write or speak it can't conform to any uniformity.

Patois is a colloquial language, it is spoken and written different based on the areas it is spoken in. My friends from Haiti speaks some of the words different than my Husband and Jamaican friends.

Honey, that only works if you are both in JA - Otherwise, you have to do it through the two links I posted. Registering for Webflex was a bit of a pain, because you have to verify who you are - once that is done, using it is really easy.

Honeychild, the eztop.com works very well. I have used that to add minutes to my hubands phone, again i don't know why he doesn't have a monthly plan. Soon it will be a moot point.

I will be visiting JA for about 3 weeks in November and I will be there for my B-Day. I just convinced my hubby to give a small social party on my B-day. We are going to give it on the roof top and invite no more than 15 people. These are to be fifteen of his best friends. I told him that I wanted to have an event inwhich his friends can get to know me, more than the Hi and goodbye settings that I have meet them in. I am so looking forward to this. I am hoping that this will be at least seven couples. I told him I didn't want it t be just 15 males. I know some of them have wives, G-friends or Baby M. I wants them to get to known me in a setting that I can be comfortable in, The last time I was there his friends and us went to a dance together but we didn't communciate much. So I am hoping that this will be a time which I can really get to know some of his friends better.

Well, I'll have to try it out... I normally go into DC for happy hour and I hear there are a couple nice places in the Blvd at Cap Centre.

I work by the waterfront in DC, so I do some of the clubs down there for happy hour, but on weekends, especially Fridays, I will meet my GF at CS since we both live in this area. Sunny, you know how bad the traffic is in this area, so once I get home I am not up for going back down town. But the subway is quite close so I could hop on it and travel back down. What's in the Blvd that happening? If you are at the Blvd, look up the store HoneyComb Hideout. Hint HInt.. Family owned.

Roxcie -- I know one of the owners of HoneyComb -- an old college friend. What a small world!

Re: Colony South - I grew up in Clinton. I remember when Colony South wasn't there (okay, I'm dating myself now). My mom still lives there so I'm very familiar with the area -- although its changing so much lately. I love Colony South's brunch -- OMG I can taste the waffles now.

I'm down for whatever the group decides. I haven't been out lately because the plantation has me working overtime, so I'm not one to ask about the latest spot to hang out outside of the couch in my living room (so sad).

My daughter loves HoneyComb.

Honeycomb Hideout came to existing thru a conversation one family Thanksgiving dinner. There is that new club at the National Habor. On weekends now they have free outdoor concerts.

I hope that when mu hubby gets here we can go to the gym together. I asked him how many times a week he works out, and he stated that he lift weights 3 times a week.

Honey, I add credit online to DJ's phone through the Digicel site if he doesn't have it - that way, he has enough to enroll in the plan when it is about to expire. It costs about $15.00, and is cheaper than what I would pay through Ringyard.

I signed up for the free 30 text messages thru his phone too. Go to digicel and sign him up. I send Joe text messages from on-line from his phone to his phone. They are his small daily surprises. I always want him to feel like he is part of my daily life, just because an body of water separate us he is still onmy mind all day long. When I go back down to JA, I am going to see how I can program his phone to show my picture when a text is received from me.

The last time I was there I left my favorite bottle of perfume (expensive too), his neice told me that when every she sees him, he smells like the perfume I used to wear. Lucky for him, the smell can be worn by both men and woman.

Roxcie

Did they extend this? Last I heard the promo was going to expire in July - It is $1200 JA (when you include the tax) for the 16 hrs, but once you use it up you still have the rate of 8 cents a minute for the rest of the month. I think you hit #134 to enroll, you have to have enough credit on the phone to do it.

I really don't know, I will talk with Joe today about it. I use Rebtel, when I call. I like the fact that I have assigned local numbers to his JA number. This way I can call him from my office phone at work.

Its HOT here in the DC/MD area, so most of the action for today will be inside.

He says " baby im putting my foot down" we cannot talk for hours on end, we are using up our time, so we have to limit ourselves...I just started laughing, im like look at D trying to be all authoritative tongue_ss.gif

Anyhoo, i hope everyone has a good day today. Be blessed ladies.

Honeychild, have D top look into getting the international calls added to his digicel. They have somthing like for 20.00 a month he can call the USA for 16 hours. I will ask my hubby about it and try to post what information I can glen out of him.

Be Bless

Sunny, Sbj, Roxie, UnRuly, we need to do a MARYLAND link up.

Definitely. Sunny and I said probably sometime in the fall.

We can't forget JAEnglish and JALOVE. Can't think of anyone else at this moment...

Darn, that's right. For some reason, I keep thinking Ja'Enlgish is in Miami. Anytime you ready. I think my SO is starting to get bored, but I don't really go to dances and clubs. I guess he'll have to hang with my brothers.

What about the gym? That's Damien's outlet. We moved to VA...down the street from his job. Yet, he still goes to Maryland to the gym...well at least until he comes back to JA. But he met some really good friends. Damien doesn't hang not much without me wacko.gif or my family (most females).

His gym buddies invited him to a party last night. I encouraged him to go but he came back home 2 hours later...

See, Marcel is the same way. At his farewell party in Jamaica I told him he could stay with his friends since it was in Montego Bay and I we were staying at my dad's house in Trelawny 32 miles away. I didn't want him driving that far that late at night. I was shocked when he drove into the driveway at 4am. He says he could not sleep without me, so he got up and drove to my dad's house. He joined the gym 2 weeks ago...but I think he's missing going out.

Not much going on these days....Crossroads doesn't have many dancehall artists anymore. The owner gotten into some trouble from what I heard. We haven't been out awhile.

Ladies, I visit a little spot called Colony South, its on Branch Ave. There is a small bar next door to their five star resturant. On Fridays and Saturday night they have a live band. It's a place you can still talk and hear music with your friends. Also they serve food, so its a nice little club. The drinks and the food are very reasonable priced. There is a five dollar cover charge after 7:00 pm. So we try to get there at 6:45, because we leave before midnight.

D, is so dang picky Roxcie till i have days when i want to bust him in his head, his shirts gotta be starched till there standing up, he has this weird thing about keeping tags on clothes which drives me nuts, i usually " accidentally" pull them off when he isnt looking...lol...and then dont even get me started on the layering of clothing, to me JA is hot, i want to be cool and dress cool, but not D, doesnt matter, he may have on a long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and t shirt, socks, shorts underneath his jeans...makes me hot just thinking about it. But overall he looks very nice when he is together. I have to restrain myself from buying things for him...i agree though it is fun to shop, for them. He spoils me in his own ways though and makes me feel very loved and protected when we are together.

Joe is picky about his clothes aswell. I just like buying special things for him, I don't buy alot, because he doesn't want people to get the wrong idea. So what, they already think it. That's another subject fpr another time. My husband says when he can afford to spoil me he will and he will spoil me more than i have done for him. biggrin.gif Those were his word exactly. Well I am going to shut down now, get ready for the night and Sunday's church service.

Honey, I hope you and D have a wonderful night on the phone.

Good night

Roxcie, you make it sound so sweet. When D is at work and it rains he is super busy, at the bar, cause everyone comes and hangs out. Today has been rainy and humid in michigan all day, there is nothing on TV and im moping around. i will snap myself out of it though.

Honeychild, I have had many a bad, depress and loney days too. But I just wants to remember the happy days. I am lonely as hell, before I got married I could count on picking up the phone and calling some old friends male or female just to hang out. I still hang out with them, but it seems everyone has a different agenda now. Honeychild I meet my husband here in the USA, and we hung out for five months before he went back to JA. We were good friends before I allow it to proceed to us being lovers. When he left here last Sept, that was when Irealized how much I loved him. I had to pull off of the highway from the airport, because I was crying so hard. He kept trying to call me while he was waiting to board the plane, I won't answer the phone. The only thing that made me answer the phone was he stated that he was going to leave the airport and be out of visa status. I knew this would cause major problems for him, so I answered the phone and tried to tell him I was okay.

Before I got back home, his brother who was still here in the USA, was on his way to my house. My now brother-in-law and his now wife, sat with me until Joe called me when he landed in JA. Then I told them to go home, because I needed to cry myself to sleep. So you see this being separated has and still is hard on me.

Im trying gill, lord knows im trying....you know idle hands is the devils workshop. I am willing myself to not be depressed, i had a life before D and i need to remember that, but the distance and loneliness can get the best of me at times. Even now im waiting for him to get off work so we can talk....( shaking my head) i need to get a hobby...LOL mellow.gif

Honey, I know what you mean, today has been a rainy day in JA so my husband and I have been on the phone all day long talking, Well I quess we have used up our 16 hours for the month. Ha Ha. headbonk.gif He won't get anymore international time until the 15th of the month. But I wouldn't have traded today for anything. We talked about anything and eveything. Remember those days when you were young and you and your girlfriends talked on the phone all day long, it was like that. We started at brunch, break at midday, took long naps and then called back for afternoon snack. I know this sounds crazy, but we are newlyweds. All of my friends seems to be out of town or busy this weekend and it is very HOT today. I bet you when he get here, my friends will want to hang out again. In my group of friends I was the only one not married, now that I am married, they are busy with other things. So I hung out today with my best friend, my husband. Hids friends yelling outside asking him whats keeping him holed up in the house. When he tells them he is on the phone with me, they are yelling to tell me hello, or good day.

Will see what tonight brings. Rooftop music in Jamaica. I can't wait for our phone call tonight. Ragae Music playing with the rain falling on the roof.

I am Bless today

As we all have experienced here the guys in JA have a problem with keeping a phone for long period of time. Now why is this?

Roxcie

In Dj's case - his phones like to take swims or go for extended taxi rides devil.gif

In Joe's case- his phones like water. I know he loves to swim, but why are they swimming with him. I am out of the cell phone business. Two downing, will make anyone cautious. I told him to stay away from water.

Hmmm...I have ATT too Roxcie..and I had a LG and had it unlocked and it wouldn't work with digicel....but i had bought my husband a phone back in the day and he had unlocked down there and it works with digicel....it's something with the band u have to pick the correct band...I just got a Palm centro and I'm about to ask to have it unlocked too

Hotlegz

I brought my hubby a unlock LG shine just recently, and it worked with his digicel. I brought my Blacberry unlocked, and it works with digicel when I am in JA. So it might be the band. The only phone I had unlocked was the razor from ATT, they gave me the code to unlock it after they noticed we had quite a few calls to and from JA on my bill. It worked with digicel after we unlocked it.

After talking with my international friends, I will only buy unlock phones now, because if you are trying to sell it most consumers are looking for unlock phones, they might not be associated with the plan you are on. Also this makes it easier to sell, when I want to just get a new phone. I don't change phone that often.

As we all have experienced here the guys in JA have a problem with keeping a phone for long period of time. Now why is this?
