Also, as others have pointed out, if you fill in your timeline (NOA1 receipt for now), you will have a better idea of when your petition might get approved.

The waiting is hard, but when you'll look back, you will just be happy.

A few of us from my group (Sept. CSC) had to wait an extra month and a half for our NOA2, but once we got it, we were just ecstatic. Although the wait was excruciating, it is all behind us and we are just happy to be moving forward. It doesnt matter anymore.
As I was waiting for the NOA2, I was also stressing out about the wait ahead, but now I find the next step is less aggravating than the 1st; I dont feel as powerless as when I was waiting for the NOA2. So that's something to look foward too! :)

I know all the information is overwhelming, but the more you read the guides and posts here, the more it will make sense to you. It is a lot to digest, but you will see you will find with time it is a lot simpler than it appears.

Good luck! I dont know if you are the petitioner or the benificiary, but if you are the benificiary, I would suggest taking advantage of things you will miss after your move. Spend time with friends and family, do things you wont be able to once you are in the States.
Time seems to stand still right now but it will go fast in the end.

I had to wait 4 and a half months for my NOA2.

It was long and frustrating, especially since most of my group had been approved in 3 months, but there isnt much you can do until you hit the 5-month mark.

I do believe they try to adjudicate cases within that 5 month timeframe, so yours is probably right around the corner!

Good luck!

and its accoridng to how the counsler day goes on if he had a good day he will approve or if he had a bad day he will refuse and treat you mean ?
thats make me and my fiancee so worried , need your advices please

No, the visa is not approved yet.

this was the first part... your american fiance's petition was approved.

Now, because it was approved, you are allowed to apply for a visa at your consulate/embassy.

You should really read the guides. They will help you understand the whole process better, and prepare for your interview.

You will find the guides tab at the top of the page.

as you can see in my time line really im so sad and worried , as you know i see alot of people from my date and and before and after get approved , but my case dont touch even since along time , really im so dipressed now ( sad )

I totally understand how you feel... most of my group was approved in about 3 months, but I, and 2-3 other couples, had to wait an extra month and a half for our NOA2.
Waiting really sucks, but odds are you are just about to receive your NOA2...
Dont get too depressed... you are still well within the times. In the mean time, make sure you read about the next steps and start preparing the paperwork needed.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsExtremely depressed

Well,
Am extremely depressed because no answer yet. And December fillers are getting their approval. I don't know what to think. I know that VSC averages 5 months, but I figured we would hear something since people that filled after us are getting news.
Let's just say that the morale of the troops is very low. I don't know if we should call them, or if that would actually make any difference.
Congratualtions on everyone that is getting an answer now. I just thought we were going to have a summer wedding, but turns out I should forget about it.
Man this su***!

Dont despair... I know it sucks. I had to wait a month and a half longer than everybody (or 95%) in my month.
But when the NOA2 finally came, I was just doubly happy. The extra wait didnt matter anymore.

And I know Fridays suck because you know you wont hear anything all weekend, but odds are you will get an answer very soon.

Omg! I've been having acid reflux for a month now! And I never had it before, ever! I haven't thought it could come from the stress.... Nut now you say it.

Well it's just like you said, his main worry right now seems to be his halloween costume... headbonk.gif
But just like you, I love the fact he's never anxious really or never get impatient. The thing is when I get nervous in real life, he holds me in his arms and it goes away.
There's no such a thing when you're thousands miles away. sad.gif

Thank you Kitty, but anyway this is how I scheduled things, with work, and the moving, I've always expected to move in February or March, so as long as this doesn't change, I'm fine.

I seem to not be able to focus on work today :x

I know!! Ive never had acid reflux or skin issues ever before either! I bought Tums for the first time in my life the other day! lol I went straight for the extra strength... Oh well... at least we have good men who usually know how to calm us down.

Kind of made me glad hearing you guys say your men are way too cool about all the process while you are stressing out!! Ive been stressing so bad about little issues in our file and worrying we'll be denied that Ive developped a rash and acid reflux, while he watches UFC fights and goes dirtbiking with his buddies!! lol I LOVE that he is such a calm person, in general, and it's better that we're not both stressballs, but it drives me even more nuts sometimes. All that to say we got into a fight too yesterday afternoon! Anyway, it's all good now, but it makes me feel better to hear it's not just us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC..Montreal..processing times?

First thanks to all who have responded to this thread. Well I called twice to the DoS and talked with two seperate DoS Customer Service(CS) women. The first CS women said March 2nd, 2010 Packet 3 was sent out via mail. I thought hmm, okay that CS person is crazy - so I ended the call with a simple thank you. So 45 minutes pass by, I called DoS again and this time another DoS CS lady answers and she too says the same thing, Packet 3 was sent out via mail on March 2nd, 2010. Did your Canadian fiance not get Packet 3 sir? I said "NO! she did not." I also explained to the DoS customer service lady how is it possible for Packet 3 to be sent out to her when I just recently received a NOA2 letter on March 8 informing us that the NVC would be sending the paperwork to the Consulate office in Montreal where some interview would take place. I found that NVC letter odd too since how can an interview take place when Packet 3 hasn't been received. It's all confusing process with no one at the consulate office to help. anyone else get a similiar letter?

Is it even possible to get an interview without first receiving Packet 3? the only contact we received from Consulate office in Montreal was on March 23rd, 2010, it was a letter asking my Fiance of her current residency status, which she sent back a reply via snail mail next day air signed for on March 30th, 2010.

All in all, the DoS customer service told me to E-mail the Consulate in Montreal and ASK them to Re-SEND the PACKET 3 to my fiance in Canada. I sent an e-mail to them today, but the reply I received back was that they would get back to me in 2 weeks and that any further inquiries would DELAY a response. All were trying to do is to make sure we are given the proper forms to fill and send back on time.

here is my TimeFrame of things so far.

1. 10-01-2009 - USCIS receives I129F Petition for Fiance in Canada (NOA-1).
2. 03-08-2010 - USCIS received letter Petition for I129F was approved(NOA-2), files sent to NVC DoS.
3. 03-18-2010 - Receive a letter that NVC received approval on I129F. Within a week the petition will be forwarded to the approriate visa-issuing post where your Visa interview will take place. MTLxxxx case# given.
3. 03-23-2010 - Montreal US Embassy sends letter to Fiance in Canada requesting proof of status in Canadian residency. She furnishes proof and sends it via Expresspost next day mail.
4. 03-30-2010 - Consulate receives return paper work about Status of Canadian residency sent via Expresspost.

I called DoS on 4-12-10 and was informed Packet 3 sent via mail on 03-02-2010.

No, it doesnt make any sense that they would have sent her pckt 3 before you got your NOA2. I would think it is a typo, a date entered wrong in the system, or something like that.

You need to have returned packet 3 to get your interview. There are several forms for her to fill and they will need that for the interview. At this point, I dont think there is much more you can do... Montreal being backlogged, it is hard to get a response from them. My guess is that the date was entered wrong and the Pckt 3 is on its way.

In the meantime she can look at the forms and gather the info she will need. Make sure she has all the required docs (birth cert., police cert. etc.).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC..Montreal..processing times?

I called Dept. of State today and they informed me that US Embassy in Montreal sent out a packet 3 on
MARCH 2nd, 2010. however, Packet-3 was never received by my Fiance in Canada. The question I have is, how can Montreal office send out a packet 3 when the NVC office sent my information to them on March 18, 2010? are they able to start sending packet 3 before then? it seems odd they would pre-send a packet 3 which was never received. I had to send US embassy a request for them to re-mail or send Packet 3 via snail mail. I'm under the impression that this is something she should be getting via snail mail from the montreal office. is that how it works?

You sure it wasnt April 2nd? that would sound about right to me.
the person on the phone might have just said the wrong month by mistake...

She will be getting it by snail mail... When they say it was sent it means it was sent to the mailroom. So it can take a few more days than what you would expect. Factor in the Easter holiday and she could be receiving it any day now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC..Montreal..processing times?

She hasn't received a Packet 3 yet, so I was wondering how long that will take to get. then how long till Packet 4 and finally the interview timeline. is it total 5 months?

It took almost a month to get my packet 3 after my NOA2.

Within that period, from the time NVC sent my case to the MTL consulate, it took a little more than 2 weeks to get it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTiming question - NVC to Montreal Embassy?

Hello! My fiance (from Canada) and I received notification from NVC back on April 21 that his packet was sent to Montreal for next steps. We have yet to hear/receive anything from Montreal (packet 3 is next step, yes?). Does anyone know how long it will take for us to hear anything from them? Please help! Posted Image

It usually takes a few weeks to receive packet 3... probably between 2 to 3 weeks on average.

You can call DOS (202-663-1225) and find out if Montreal has sent you the packet 3. You will need your case number that was given to you by NVC.

Too many people quit/stopped coming into work during the summer, so they're super understaffed and backlogged by about 4 months.
I really hope they fix it sad.gif

Great! Thank you Kizza! :D It was a very quick experience. We brought a big binder with all our documents requested in the interview letter (originals & copies), 3 photo albums of us throughout relationship plus wedding, and folders with more secondary evidence if needed (cards, receipts, etc.) Before you go in have your ID & notice letter ready. Once inside you go through security which is like the airport security. After that we went to check in at the 2nd floor - Adjustment of Status. Then we waited on the 3rd floor for about 5-10 minutes before being called. We were interviewed by a guy. He was polite & serious at the same time. Told us to pledge we are speaking the truth, asked for passport & DL from both of us, and then proceeded to ask questions. He just asked my husband his current address, current cell phone#, birthdate, and then read the criminal questions/communist questions (all answered "no" lol). After that he just asked us how we met, what my job is, what our major was (we met in University), our photos, and then said we were approved. It was easy even though I was still nervous haha. Interview time was about 10 minutes. So a pretty easy experience. I guess they can tell if you are legit or not.

Even though I am happy to be done with this :star: I'm not looking forward to doing this again almost 2 years later when we have to remove conditions. They already sucked enough money from us.....

Nice! thanks for posting about it. Sounds pretty painless! lol but I guess a lot of preparation goes into it, right?

Kizza, when you finally get approved just as a heads up make sure you get an I-94 when you cross the border, tell them you need it! the border guard didn't get me one and now I have to deal with the headache of getting one given to me retroactively... you need it for the AOS process but as Canadians we usually don't need them (when we visit) but when we want to immigrate we have to have them.... just a heads up for you!

Argh! Ive heard of this happening somewhat often to Canadians... That sucks! Especially if you dont have one of those insepction centers nearby.
I hope you sort it out without any hassles.

Canada uses the new DS-160? Wow...I am glad we didn't have to use that one, especially since we had already prepared the older forms. Yeah, I am so happy about the interview result. We are looking at early May for her to arrive. In China, some jobs require a minimum of one month "free" service if you quit while under contract. If she doesn't do this, she can incur a financial penalty if she ever tries to work or do business in China in the future. Plus, she needs to start planning what she will bring on this first trip. We decided not to plan any of the travel aspects until we had been approved. If we didn't get "pink" I think it would have been hard emotionally if we had invested more in the move. Thanks for your kind words!

Yeah, both Vancouver and Montreal use the ds-160, which is pita. I think it will be great once they resolve the glitches though. I also had to fill in all the older forms. But oh well, it's done and Montreal got my P3 yesterday morning, so Im pretty happy.

So, she has to work without pay for a month? wow... interesting system... well at least she has something good to look forward to. It's unfortunate though as Im sure she'd rather be saving money right now, but I agree that's it better to leave on good terms and with a clear conscience.
:) Congrats again and enjoy these happy times!

Wow! I hadn't looked at this thread in a while..it is so nice to see everyone getting over the hurdles. I just got off Skype with Yi and she passed with a two minute interview! OMG...all the preparation and planning and paperwork we had ready as proof...and the VO didn't want to see any of it...just handed her the pink after 5 simple questions. I am so lucky and so blessed to have her in my life and so happy that the embassy decided not to have a bad day. I will check back from time to time, but I think that our thread is coming to the end of its' run....ahh the memories. Kizza, let us know the good news soon, girl! I spent more time worrying about your NOA2 than my own..so glad to see you are on to P3!

Congratulations Garfiled and Yi!

Awesome news! When is she coming?

Thanks for the encouragement! you're sweet!
Yup! I fought for a few hours with form ds-160 tonight... but I WON. fracking frack.
Packet 3 will be off first thing in the morning! :)

So I was approved today pending the results of the medical which I have bright and early tomorrow. Vancouver is nice for that, you can interview on Tuesday and do the medical on Wednesday. As for the interview my experience was a BREEZE! the guy interviewing me actually was more interested in the fact that I'm an actor and he wanted to know more about that than the actual visa application! Like you said garfield... all that work all those pictures... and they didn't even ask for them!

anyways... I'm so thrilled! I don't expect anything to go weird tomorrow with the medical so I should be good to go!!!

Nice work! Congratulations!
glad the interview went so smoothly!

Good luck on your medical tomorrow!

Just a quick note to everyone. Thanks to everyone for the info and support during this process. John and I had the interview on the 5th of March and passed with no problems. John got the visa back from the courier yesterday so a pretty quick turn around.

To all of you who have already had your interview congrats and to those still waiting...kizza that means you! I'm wish you all the luck in the world!

Thank you darling! :) Let's hope I get it surprisingly soon too!

And congratulations again on John's visa! woot woot!
