PhilippinesVancouver as POE
The flight goes from Manila to Vancouver and then to Las Vegas so that makes it the POE. I know there's a counter to process the people coming off of the flights, but I just can't see it on the map. It's no biggie since I'm sure my wife will find it after getting off the plane.

PhilippinesVancouver as POE
Okay, POE is Las Vegas then. Anyone who had that as POE, where is the CBP counter where visa will be checked and yellow envelope will be turned in? Looking at the map of terminal 2, there isn't one listed.

PhilippinesJollieBee / ChowKing in LasVegas - Very Bad

Sunshinearizona which is the best in your opinion or they about all the same? Maryland Pkwy is North or South of I-15? BTW which exit if coming in on I-15 North entering Vegas?.....Thanks a lot!

from I-15 going towards vegas, take flamingo rd exit, turn left onto maryland pkwy. you'll see SUNRISE HOSP., plenty of fil. restaurants up and down this road. i think goldilocks is the best especially if you're dining with americans. happy eating!

PhilippinesJollieBee / ChowKing in LasVegas - Very Bad

Went to Vegas to watch the Dallas Mavericks kick the living Chit out of Miami. Stopped by Seafood City off Maryland street in Las Vegas.

Food was horrible at both places. We got the chicken/spaghetti from Jollibee, Tasted like Horse$hit.

We ate there 2 years ago and food was good, Don't know how they stay in business........

you should have gone to nanay gloria or goldilocks, they're on the same road maryland pkwy about 1/2 a mile from seafood city. jollybee is bad, except for the corned beef sandwich...kusina ni lorraine, another fil. eatery is also on maryland pkwy.

PhilippinesCFO REQUIREMENT

Hi VJ members. I found out that CFO class is necessary or mandatory as well for the K1 visa. I know that we can attend the seminar ahead of time, but we'll have to go back once we have our visa to get it stamp. However, i am wondering what exactly happens during the one-on-one counseling? Is it somewhat like an interview? Has anybody got denied or failed?.What are the type of questions they ask during counseling? Thanks everyone!

you can google... COMMISSION ON FILIPINOS OVERSEAS... you can attend this seminar before your interview but you have to go back later and get your sticker after you received your visa. without this sticker, you cannot leave the country. they will check this at the airport. this applies to everybody leaving the philippines regardless of what kind of visa do you have.

PhilippinesMagic Jack

Anyone have success with Magic Jack. I sent one to my fiancee Jenny and it is very choppy and most times we can't here each other. She has a modern Netbook with sufficient memory and before sent to her work jus fine with me on comcast surfing. But, there on wireless smartbro it is just ok for surfing and horrible for Magic jack calls.

So what I am asking is what ISP in philippines would work better than the SmartBro wireless? Does anyone have a current setup that is working good for them?

magic jack works really well with DSL high speed . no broadband like smartbro.

Longganisa being a sausage is more in line with spaghetti now when you put hotdogs in it, that's a Filipino twist. Hotdogs are not common to the dish. IMO.....

You might be Filipino if......you have a cartful of corned beef, when its on sale.

you might be a filipino....if you say "thanks God" instead of "thank God"
if you replace the letter V with a B
if you use the word "coming" instead of "going " and vise versa. i just read something like "coming with my husband" instead of "going with my husband".

PhilippinesWhat did I do wrong?

It's not something that can be reasoned with. It's like a switch gets thrown, and it will eventually reset itself, once she starts to reevaluate her situation. In the meantime, apologies from the husband are the only things that will accelerate the process. Trust me. I have been through it, and I have seen others go through it. If you don't like drama, don't marry a Pinay.

ETA: Grammar error bothered me.

PhilippinesDriver license

Philippines driver's license? No, it is not beneficial.
International driving permit, issued in the Philippines? Yes, it can be beneficial.

My wife had some driving "training" in the Philippines. IMHO, it was absolute garbage. Why? Because no one follows the rules of the road. Traffic lights, pedestrian crossings are all decorations in the Philippines. They look nice, have pretty colors...but don't really mean anything.

I told my wife it's great she learn the handling of a car (ie steering, braking, etc), but DO NOT adopt their way of driving. If she brings that mentality of driving to the States, she will get cited for sure. She was able to drive in Washington state, using her International Driving Permit, until she took the road test. During that time, I taught her the proper way of driving here in the States. Here in Washington state, the Dept of Licensing does NOT honor driver's licenses from foreign countries.

I hope this helps you some.

Philippinesany April interviews?

April 13, 6:30am

keith&jezyl, CFO can be completed in advance, but you'd still have to go back after the Visa is issued to collect the stamp.

My fiancee just had her interview yesterday and intended to take the CFO seminar but was told she needed to have the visa in hand. Has anyone got the CFO early then gone back for the stamp or is that an urban legend?

Philippinesfor the guys!! How do YOU deal with Tampo?

Just wondering how the men here deal with their wife when the dreaded tampo hits!!!!! I know it doesn't last for longer than 2 hours in my case but what do you do to try to fix it ?

Hahaha odd post.

What about understanding that you are likely going to be testy with each and giving each other some psychological space. Any time any one person in the relationship is irritate for whatever reason, isn't it best to not engage in anything that'll escalate a seemingly small issue or problem and wait until you're both in a positive frame to talk about things. There is little point in having a knock down quarrel or argument because of frustration and anger.

It's just conflict, not rocket science. Conflict resolution skills 101. And while not always easy to do, I believe in going hard on the issue and easy on the people as a general philosophy. We tend to go hard on the people and the issue can get obscured and things get personalized...

Or you can move out of the house for a while hahahaha ....

Adjusting can be a little tough - hopefully she'll feel better soon. Usually when one is homesick, it's about family and missing those we love rather than finding new friends to be with that share the same culture.

PhilippinesAnother boring day alone at home in U.S.
Hello, I'm feeling bored as well. I came here to visit my fiance and got married. I'm adjusting my AOS status right now. If i'm feeling lonesome because there's nothing to work with to make myself alive. Yong ginagawa ko ay nananood ng TFC sa internet. Palagi on computer namin halos buong araw at gabi dahil nakaka bored nga pag walang ginagawa. My wife is working 12 hours shift halos every night. I tried to convince her to come with me to Canada but she kept opposing my suggestions. She told me that she doesn't like cold weather and she can't stand being there during winter time. I kept telling her that there's nothing wrong to try but yet still the same. At this time wala pa me work ka c wala pa me EAD. To those kababayan who were being lonesome just keep in mind that it's worth to sacrifice in fair amount of time to be with our love ones. kicking.gif Kaya dance..dance lang...hehhehhe

PhilippinesFilipinos Learning How to Drive
QUOTE (jasman0717 @ Oct 17 2008, 11:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Did you know how to drive when you arrived in the U.S.? If not, how did you learn?

Claudeth hasn't learned how to drive yet so are starting to look into it.

We don't have a car back in Philippines and what's the point of having a car if you live in one of the isolated places which is nearby the mountain and river? Anyways, when I was in the Philippines I only knew how to ride a bicycle. When I was 16 year old I moved to Canada with my family. I only learnt how to drive when my brother in-law taught me how. We drove around and we end up in the ditch. I also enrolled in our school driving class in high school. In year 2005 I took my road test and falied 5X. I took a year off because of the disappointment. Luckily I had a younger brother who passed his road and got his Canadian license . He was the one who patiently in my side every time I practiced driving. In year 2007 when I was in college back in Canada I passed my road test. NOw I moved here in USA because my wife is USC and I'm still using my Canadian driver's license every time i'm driving. To tell you franky, I'm not a good instructor to my wife because my temper and patient are short.

Anyways, you can ask anyone in your family or friends to teach you how to drive..just some basic steps...or you can pay an instructor to teach you driving but it's quite expensive.
