PhilippinesK1 Interview- Affidavit of Support

Hello everyone. My fiance(e) is scheduled for her interview on March 6, 2012. For her affidavit of support? The only tax file I have is for year 2010 of my 1040 filing. I have not file my 2011 yet? Should one be good enough to present during her interview process?? Also, I saved all my Leave Earning Statement or Pay Stubs as proof of my income. Help will be greatly appreciated.

Documents Provided

1) 1040 tax return for 2010 only
2) 5 Recent Pay Stubs( Leave Earning Statement)
3) Thrift Savings Plan (Statement)
4) 2 Recent month bank Statement Copy.

Call IRS for the 2010 tax transcript. They need that too.

PhilippinesHow needy you are to have Filipino friends in your area?
I am in Arizona too and we've never met so I guess we're on the same plight :)
To the OP - I befriend anybody but definitely not needy to join fellowships and other functions just to have Filipino friends. I'm not snub but mostly timid. I appreciate the invites but I don't know why I don't really look forward to attending those. Besides far, I have been to a few get together and me and my husband realize we just don't belong to "their group" so we instead enjoy our time together or hang out with few selected buddies and do something interesting other than talking about other people :)

Markieboy: You are in Seattle and Im in Arizona. Its strange that you are describing the filipinas/filipinos i met here in my area. :bonk:

To the OP: Frankly speaking, 3 years here in the US. This year, I intentionally did not bother to meet or know another filipino/filipinas. No intent to exert effort to meet or see another kababayan unless they are also attending the same function im in. Most of the filipinas i met are chismosa, and inggitera. I dont mind them bragging abouth their stuff. The one that irritates me the most are filipinos asking about the price of our house, my computer, desk in my home office. Though i have 5 filipina friends here. We dont meet often. We are all busy and have no time to meet up. Life is short. Just do whatever you have to do and enjoy it.

PhilippinesI joked that she'd need a wheelbarrow to take her stuff to the interview

I have a K1 & K2 package that I'm preparing to send to my fiancee. I'll keep a copy for myself and send her 4 copies of everything... 1 for her, 1 for the CFO, 1 for the Embassy and a backup set.

And as I go along in the buildup, I'm starting to realize that the total package on her end could be 1,000 pages or more. Sheesh!!

I know that the embassy doesn't really need a lot, but even with just 1 email per month, it's somewhere between 50-75 pages. That's just the emails! Doesn't include phone logs, chat screen shots, remittances, my I-129F info and so on.

Dannnnggg...

I always used to say that if some is good, more is better and too much is just right. But this is ridiculous! LOL

Anybody else have to rent a dump truck to take their I-134F package to the FedEx office?

As for the emails, only print the first page where it shows the date, time, from, to, and first part of the email. I think they are concern of the date they want to see consistency so if you have been talking for a year, just have 12 pages or so to cover one email per month. If you have been talking for say 2 years, print the very first email then every after 2 months maybe and the very latest email. This goes with chatlogs you dont have to print the whole conversation, just a "sample" of monthly chat logs.

Also to save yourself from paying too much $$ to Fedex the docs, why dont you just send some of those docs via email and have your fiancee print them in the Philippines? It would make sense to do that, quicker too. Just FEDEX docs that need signature and other pertinent (main) doc requirements.

PhilippinesBPI savings card online

At the back of your BPI Card look for the PLUS, Mastercard, STAR or Cirrus logo, if you have that, look for any bank with the same logo and you can withdraw your money here in the US, apparently there are charges for like 3-5$ for every transactions. I was able to use my BDO and BPI ATM Savings accounts cards here to withdraw and shopping. Hope it helps.

Thank you. That helps. Do you also know if may limits ang withdrawal amount?

Who among you here have tried using their BPI savings account which was opened in the Philippines, and have transferred money from BPI or have withdrawn money from BPI , while you are in the US?

My parents are transferring money through my BPI account and was wondering if I can withdraw them from the US?

Thanks

PhilippinesGood Travel Agent? Cheap Airfare?

I am anticipating that my fiancee flies to LA in December 2012. The tickets are crazy high :( Eva Air has it at 916 dollars

I would consider 916 to be cheap especially for Dec 2012. I got my ticket for Dec 2011 for 1260 via Hawaiian Airlines.

Just wanted to see if there was anyone with experience in using a reliable travel agent( either here in PH or there in States ) to get special promos going from Manila to LAX. Most specifically the "First Time Immigrant" promo fare that seems to good to be true. Anyone with experience with this? A ticket directly from PAL for my wife and baby is almost $3,000.. and i need one also  . Any insight and recommendations would be just peachy. Thanks!

Not sure of your location but I took Hawaiian Airlines last time I went home Dec 2011. It was Dec so fare was bit pricey.

Congrats. That's quick. My wife's interview was the 13th and the visa was delivered on the 16th. How was your wife able to pick it up? They told my wife that they only deliver to her address so she had no choice but have it delivered there.

PhilippinesAnother tragic story of a Filipina

I tried to get an update since they made such a big deal about this in the news. Maybe it has already served its purpose for "sensational scandal". Hey, how much of the advertising revenue sold will go to the orphan?

The Orphan gets nothing if the grandparents gets their way. See what they ask for here:link
It's in tagalog though so I couldn't understand more than half of what was said. I had to get my wife to translate.

I think my wife meant to say a law prohibiting marriage if the age gap is over 50 years instead of the persons age being 50. There are many instances of younger girls scamming and manipulating gentlemen of that age for marriage so I can see the reason for bringing up such a law, but ultimately it infringes on choices and freedom especially to legit couples.

Actually, people are wrong all the time. They are entitled to an opinion, yes. But they are not entitled to their own facts. I noticed no concern for restrictions on same-age scammers from you. Instead, the attack in your case is only upon on older guys with younger girls.

That tells us it isn't a concern for scammers, but just a convenient argument against something you don't like. No problem, I think your immigration should be stopped if you used the internet with your spouse. Because look here how this couple met on the internet. Now they are dead. So for your own safety I think you should be deported. But just you. Y'know, because I think you're icky so I'll just find some argument to hurt you.

Where we have prejudice we need to re-think. Race, color, religion, gender, age - you don't have the right to tell other people who they can love.

Excuse me I feel like responding on your post too :)

Do you consider all your opinions and thoughts wrong? of course not, everyone would feel that they're in the right track somehow. You said people are wrong all the time. let me ask you, Do you think you made your decision right when you petitioned your spouse/fianceè? Of course you'll answer YES. See, now you're thinking, nuts! why did I say people are wrong all the time :D . It's okay, you're entitled with your own opinion. And age restrictions? well people are free to chose whom they'll love, I won't argue with that. So, if you're somehow in that type of relationship, I don't care, you're happy right? What's up with your comment? you should read your comments twice or more if you don't mind, and read on what you're commenting before telling not so nice opinion, the word is idea if you missed reading that part, you're also commenting on your own opinion BTW.Y'know, because I think you're icky so I'll just find some argument to hurt you. (that's for yourself to say)

Again, this is only my opinion and hurts me that an innocent comment I just post, someone would twist it in their own point of view. Why bother explaining what's up when I clearly understand it on my own perspective way. No need to twist or look through each words meaning plsss..(sorry did the same thing you did though)scammers, you might not agree but you can just shut up and don't say stuff that's not funny( I know you're not trying to be funny either). Internet? well aren't you also stating what you think? I'm talking to my husband through internet, so why would I bother telling stuff about that. I'm not categorizing, it's just an innocent comment, again it's just merely an opinionated matter. I respect your icky/sentimental comment too. Anyway I still believe people can make things right, do things right and say things right, right? Sigh... Sorry to give your words back to you. And thank you for reminding me of a valuable lesson. Now, :ot2: plss..

Maybe the 50 year old wants to marry a 55 year old national? No wedding?......you can't legislate or mandate common sense. I'm truly sorry for the little girl in this case as well as all involved...it's truly tragic. But they were legal consenting adults. I don't know the answer or even if there is one to the issue of older men and younger women but things like this happen every day to all ages.....it's just we're hearing about it now. My prayers for the little girl.....

Bob

Quoted something I've read  and the most common thing people forget now is the common sense. I still believe 50 years or more age gap is just so crazy and God only knows what's on their heart nor mind. Oh well, we're entitled to our own opinion, so I keep mine. :D

I agree from the post above too. I would like to quote this message I've read somewhere. "BANGKOK: — The Ministry of Interior are bringing a new proposal before the Cabinet prohibiting foreigners over the age of 50 from marrying Thai nationals"
- It's a nice idea for Philippines as well to implement, to prevent filipina from being used and those older guys whom are mostly the ones being scammed too. Peace! :innocent: , I just stated my opinion, but you know its both couple's intentions that always prevail. :)

Oh, God I've watched this news while on my way back home. It's very unfortunate. I feel bad for that filipina's family back here in Philippines. They've met online and she came to USA only last year and this thing happens. Maybe the parties are one of the 'cultural' or even 'tribal'(whatever that meant) things that are different between the US and the PHL. In the PHL, they love their parties, whether for a wedding, anniversary, or because its a Tuesday.

I mean things started getting out of hand on the second week being there in the village. Money to get home and for food. Money for a farewell party. Money to travel back and forth

Lols my family and friends asks me for a farewell party but I said I'll see if my budget is ok for that and I said it's better to pay it for bills at home rather than spending it on party, but anyway my sister insisted having it and I said it's ok and up to them, coz the good part is, its their treat. The lesson here is not only you deciding on things, both of you should talk about it and come up unto an agreement, specially about financial matters. Dude, I agree on what others have said that spending all that on the trip wasn't smart. I understand your concerns and wanting to be with Gretchen while dealing with that part of the process, but you didn't have to be there and act like a baller. You could've saved all that money by staying in Arizona like I did. I know my wife is intelligent, resourceful, and fully capable of taking care of the medical, interview, and other random stuff that popped up. She is my equal and partner I didn't have to be there to hold her hand and do things for her. I saved my money instead and set aside for my budget as well as a honeymoon in Vegas, a trip to Cali to visit my bros, and a 7 day cruise for our anniversary. My wife and I are on the same page ever since the start of the relationship and she made sure the her family knew what to expect from me as the son in law. She also knows what my family expects of her as the daughter in law. I lived the first 11 years of my life in the PI and I still know our culture and the issues involved with marrying a woman from the PI. Seems like expectations from both culture and family have been miscommunicated in your case. I wish you luck and a smooth ride from here on out.

Philippineshow will i work as a nurse?

OH! We went through the same thing. I passed March 2010, and got married and now I'm here in the US. They gave me that form too. What I did was I sent in that letter, along with a copy of my birth certificate, marriage certificate and US SSN. I included the marriage certificate as proof of name change. I also sent in a copy of the biographical page of my passport just so I have an ID with picture that they can see (but I think they don't need it, I'm just trying to be extra sure). After a week and a half of sending it in, I got my license! Wooohooo!!! Just send in everything, and send it with a tracking number so you know that they received it. Their mailing address is in their website. Good luck! It's an easy process, just send in those documents. :)

I'm also wanting to take the NCLEX exam here in US, what do you guys think I have to prepare? And how long till I'll get eligible to take the exam and finally have my license?
I graduated in a Nursing school in PI and I'm a registered nurse as well. I have ideas but somehow it's not yet clear to me.
Thanks in advance.

The green card isn't sitting somewhere waiting for a person to enter the US. It is created after your POE file is sent in. The stamp in your passport serves as your temporary green card until the physical one arrives.

PhilippinesCFO Seminar Review/Feedback

3rd, we were shown a video clip of Magandang Gabi Bayan, an old show of Noli de Castro from more than a decade ago? It featured 3 cases of domestic abuse in different forms (physical, emotional, financial/mental) by foreign spouses of Filipinas. The title of the episode is "Karanasan/Kapalaran ng Pilipina sa Dayuhan" (Experience of Filipinas with Foreigners). Can't find it online though.

We were asked about our individual reactions. I expressed mine which is in sense goes like this, "The key is, regardless of being married or not to a Filipino or a foreigner, you have to be vigilant, self-reliant and ready with a contingency plan for the worst scenario. The scenarios presented to us are not limited to foreigners alone, even Filipinos hurt their wives. No one have a good grasp of what's going on another person's mind may they be spouse, friend, sibling or stranger. So, it's important to be prepared for the worst and save some for yourself."

I had my CFO at SMEF-COW as well and it went all good, important is you're done and thank God your journey is almost over, you'll finally be with your hubby. I agree to what you've said  have a safe trip ;)
And about the videos, like CFO's info.. those vids are telling us that the notion most of pinoy has about marrying a foreigner or even pinoy and is in USA will give them good life. Well, it's not exactly what everyone will have, it's just a reminder for everyone to keep our minds intact with reality. :D :hehe:

PhilippinesHow to use unlocked cell phone in U.S.A.

I love my cellphone (Nokia X3-02) here but Verizon said they do not recognize the make and can't connect their line to it.

How about roaming sim from the PHilippines?

I did this before when I worked outside Philippines. Any phone will work as long as yeah it recognizes networks and true most commonly Nokia mobiles. And to make her phone work here in US she should have a sim card that is roam activated (either smart, globe netwok etc..)and I suggest your fiancee should activate or buy a roaming sim before she gets to US so she won't be charge of any amount. And the only thing makes it not so cool is having a maintaining balance(load)of 100php or else she can't text nor call but she can still receive though. Well, anyway when she buys the sim card there will be instructions with it so she'll be ok. Good luck.

Before having driver's license you need to pass the permit test first for practicing with supervision and of course the actual driving test.
